The Anchor Benevolent Society - established in 1895 by immigrants from the Northern Adriatic Islands of Cres, Losinj, Unije, Krk & the Istra Peninsula - is the 2nd oldest Croatian society in the United States.

It is with a very heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Renata Muzic, a long-standing, beloved, and devoted member of our society.

We send our deepest condolences to her husband Lurdino, her daughters Marianne and Martha, and their husbands and children, and all of Renata's family and friends. We are heartbroken for their loss.

The services this week for Renata Muzic are as follows:

Hope everyone had a great summer!! Today we had our last meeting of the year at Rudar with a great turnout! Thank you to all who came. Looking forward to our next event which will be our Christmas Party that we will host together with The Society Chersina. It will be on November 22 so please save the date. Invitations will be sent out soon. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Another great event in the books. Yesterday The Anchor Benevolent Society had its annual picnic at Hoyt Farms. The weather was gorgeous, we had a nice crowd, wonderful music and great food. What more can you ask for! Thank you for all that attended.

Yesterday, the Anchor Benevolent Society held its meeting at the Plattduetsche, and we are thrilled to welcome three new members to our society: Jennifer, her husband Tim, and her sister Laura, who are direct descendants of Peter Vlakancic.

Moments like these remind us what our society is all about—preserving our heritage, honoring the legacy of those who came before us, and ensuring that their stories and traditions continue for future generations.
