May marks Older Americans Month. It's a time to recognize the contributions of older adults and the importance of supporting healthy, connected aging.

At Older Adults Technology Services, we partner with organizations across the country to help older adults build the skills they need to navigate today’s digital world.

From learning new tools to staying connected with family, healthcare, and community, the impact goes far beyond the screen.

We’re proud to be part of that work. The National 2026 theme is "Champion Your Health," focusing on prevention, wellness, and self-advocacy. Watch this space for stories and inspiration throughout the month as we amplify this theme and how older adults are Aging with Attitude.

Came across this article on StartupCafe (Romania) and noticed that they picked up the AI research we worked on with EY and used it to talk about AI literacy and older adults in their own market.

That’s exactly the research is publicly available. We didn’t put this report out as clickbait. We wanted people to actually use it, bring it into their work, challenge assumptions, and rethink how they’re building and teaching.

For instance, we noted that 38% of older adults are actively learning AI, with only 15% uninterested.

That gap between interest and access keeps showing up, no matter the country. It’s also nice to see the data travel a bit. No matter the language or region the same core issues are being worked through.

Recently The Senior Zone podcast welcomed Noah O'Ryan, our Regional Program Manager, to a conversation about online safety, scams, and how older adults can navigate today’s digital world with more confidence.

In the episode, Protecting Your Future in a Digital World, Noah talked through the kinds of scams people are seeing every day, from phishing texts and fake delivery alerts to suspicious emails, social media risks, password habits, and what to do if something goes wrong.

The big takeaway: technology should empower people, not intimidate them.

That’s why digital skills training has so many facets. It’s about learning how to use a device, knowing how to protect yourself, asking the right questions, and feeling more in control online.

Thanks to host Sean Perry and The Senior Zone for making space for this important conversation. Listen here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2570758/episodes/18961560

Inside Edition recently featured one of our Senior Planet Sponsored Athletes, Suzanne Lur.

She’s 68 and now a national weightlifting champion. Get this: she only started lifting a couple of years ago, after being hit by a truck and having to rebuild her strength from the ground up.
Before that, the gym wasn’t even on her radar.

She found a free strength training class for older adults, kept showing up, and things took off from there. Now she’s competing around the country and putting up some serious numbers.

What stands out is how she talks about it. She wants to stay independent and doesn’t want to lose her mobility.

Her story is resonating with older adults on a larger scale than we could imagine. Access to the right class at the right time can completely change someone’s life. Never forget that.

P.S. Don’t you think this is a share worthy post?

Earth Day has been a bit busy for us today.

We teamed up with AARP in Miami, Florida to host a free community shred event, helping older adults safely dispose of sensitive documents while keeping unnecessary paper out of landfills. Documents were shredded on the spot, thanks to Shred Force

It reinforced a few things we think about often: how to support environmental responsibility, reduce fraud risk, and show up with practical resources people can use right away.

And the day didn’t stop there. As part of our Earth Day programming, we also hosted a Digital Vaults lecture, focused on protecting important documents online, and an Earth Day luncheon that brought participants together in community.

Grateful to everyone who came out, and to our partners who make these kinds of community moments possible through both funding and resources.
