A little side-eye from Jackson! And they say mules never forget so wondering how long he is going to be mad at us.🫣

But seriously we have all been concerned with Jackson’s weight loss over the last few months. Fat and sassy despite the hot dry summer and then he gradually began eating less and less. Jackson is 41 and we questioned if he was telling us he was done. But there was still a spark in his eye.💜

He had interest in his grain but he wasn’t eating as much. He was dropping weight even with vitamin B boosts and weight gain supplements. His bloodwork was good and at first glance his teeth looked okay too with no bad oder. But our great vet team didn’t stop there so with a little wiggle to test for a loose tooth the first one came out easily followed by nine more!! Mules hide their pain and Jackson had been doing just that!

Jackson has a strong treatment plan in place but he could also use all the love and encouragement you can spare.

What an amazing group of young adults from Rosehill! This group is part of the KAY club and they came out to volunteer and deliver a donation.

Kansas Association for Youth (KAY) is a service and leadership organization unique to Kansas. KAY clubs focus on service to a student’s school, their community, nation, and world, and work to encourage lifelong participation in service. Clubs also work to develop student leadership skills.

Thank you!💜

Celebrating 21 years of HOPE!

As we enter the season that reminds us to be thankful for what we have and to be hopeful for a better future, we begin with thankful and celebratory hearts today - the 21st anniversary of Hope In The Valley Equine Rescue.

This milestone belongs to ALL of YOU - our incredible Hope family -
Passionate donors who fuel our mission.
Patient adopters who open their hearts and homes.
Social media supporters with kind words and a shared passion for Hope.
Tireless volunteers who are The Hope Team - the heart of Hope!

Welcome to our two-month celebration! Over the next eight weeks, we invite you to join us right here as we share inspiring stories of Hope. Together, we'll walk down memory lane, celebrate special moments happening today, and look ahead to a promising future.

To kick-off our Celebration of Hope here is a beautiful testimonial from a “Hope mom”. Ashley shares a glimpse into the journey of her daughter Lili and her Hope horse Cara. Follow along as we reveal the many layers of their story that brings everything full circle—the true Circle of Hope.

”Lili & Cara found each other through unexpected circumstances...
Their story — this story — is what rescue is about.
It isn't just about a horse;
it's truly about the lives & hearts
that are forever changed in the process.” - Ashley (Lili’s mom)

Rest in peace, sweet Lady.

Today, we remember one of the gentlest souls to walk our pastures. True to her name, she was "Always A Lady."

Lady (30+ years old) with her handsome son Diamond came to Hope after a devastating loss - the passing of their beloved person and the sale of their longtime farm. They had lost the only home they ever knew yet they still had each other. For over 20 years Diamond never left her side and together they arrived in need of a soft landing.

We will miss Lady’s morning whinny for breakfast. Her gentle reminder to stay focused on the task at hand. Though at first she struggled she had began to rebound and soaked in all the love we had to give.

Sadly, time and a failing body caught up with our sweet girl and we watched as her gentle spirit slowly began to fade. We find comfort in the knowledge that her life was filled with dignity and love and the devotion of her son. Though our time with Lady was not long we loved her dearly and find comfort in the blessing it was to have known her.

Run free Lady. You will always be a Lady in our hearts. Please lift Diamond in your thoughts as he navigates the pasture without his mamma for the very first time.

Misty is a sweet older Arabian mare who does enjoy attention and today she was clearly feeling the love.

Happy National Mule Day to our incredible Jackson and Butterscotch - two very special souls in the Hope herd. They are the epitomy of the wonderful duality of mules—Butterscotch with her sweet, affectionate side craving perfect scratches, and Jackson with his majestic, wise aura of his 41 years keeping everyone guessing with his mysterious charm.

Mules are masters of individuality, and it is their distinctive "ways" that endear them to us. Please help us celebrate these two senior treasures and their life at Hope where they are free to be exactly who they are!

“Am I Dreaming” (Dreamer) continues to learn about the freedom of full time pasture life shared with pasture mates Helena Psyilk and Shiloh. Dreamer has known the love and safety of her own person which helps her in the transition to Hope where she also knows she is loved and safe but life is still “different”. She will be given the time it takes for her to settle in. No pressure. No rushing. All on her timeline.

No girl you aren't dreamin this is the next chapter in your life and Hope is here for you.

We invite you to continue to follow Dreamer’s journey here on Hope’s social media pages. Please know she is NOT yet available for adoption but she would appreciate your support if you wish to drop her a heart or a few words of encouragement below.

Hope is good.
