Today, some of our members provided assistance to a motorist who became stuck. The primary goal of SAR is to ensure that people are able to return home safely. Although we may occasionally assist with stuck vehicles such as this one, our standard protocol typically involves recovering stuck vehicles with the help of a tow company. It is essential to be prepared!

Saturday June 28th MC SAR was activated along with Vale ambulance for a group stranded in a remote area. A member of the group had become injured while getting their vehicle unstuck. The travelers found themselves low on fuel and unable to continue. SAR members transported Vale ambulance staff. Lifeflight was called to aid for pain management of the patient, but couldn’t transport. SAR members provided fuel and drove the group’s jeep down by to an awaiting ambulance. When traveling in remote areas be sure of your route, vehicle and your own capabilities.

Malheur County Search and Rescue's Cook Shack: Now Even Better!

Malheur County Search and Rescue is excited to announce some fantastic upgrades to their cook shack at both the Vale Rodeo and the Billy Evins Roping events! This year, get ready to savor their famous french fries, now cooked in rich BEEF TALLOW OIL instead of seed oil, promising an even more flavorful and satisfying experience. Plus, they're making it easier than ever to grab your grub: the cook shack now accepts debit cards and features a convenient digital point-of-sale board. These improvements will help them serve you faster, all while supporting the vital work of Malheur County Search and Rescue.

We have an amazing County, with a lot of opportunities to adventure. Please recreate safely and know how to request help if necessary. Our SAR group was not equipped for this rescue, so we are very grateful for the Idaho Army National Guard and Boise Fire. Check out the pictures from the “camping spot” prior to rescue.

On Thursday evening, the Malheur County Search and Rescue team conducted their monthly training, focusing on their newly acquired rope equipment. This advanced rope and pulley system enables the team to establish 3:1 mechanical advantage ratios, facilitating the safe ascent and descent of team members and patients across challenging, steep terrain. The all-volunteer Malheur County Search and Rescue team funds such critical equipment through their own fundraising efforts and generous community donations.

Tonight MCSAR was asked to Assist Ontario Fire and Rescue with the retrieval of 2 people and their dog. They had become trapped in their house by rising flood waters. Ontario Fire did a great job getting the them out so we took some pictures! Please be careful around fast moving water, pay attention to warnings and make plans if you live in low areas.
