🔥 EXTREME FIRE DANGER — BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🔥

Fire danger in our area is currently at the EXTREME level. With vegetation extremely dry and the possibility of dry lightning this weekend, conditions are especially dangerous for wildfires.

⚡ Dry lightning is a serious concern. Thunderstorms can produce lightning with little or no accompanying rainfall, allowing strikes to ignite dry grass and vegetation. Fires caused by lightning may also smolder unnoticed before rapidly spreading when winds increase.

🚫 A BURN BAN remains in effect. Please do not burn debris, use open flames, or conduct any activity prohibited under the current burn restrictions.

This weekend, everyone can help reduce the risk:

Follow all burn-ban restrictions.
Avoid activities that could create sparks near dry vegetation.
Properly dispose of smoking materials.
Never park or drive vehicles over tall, dry grass.
Report smoke or fire immediately.

One spark or lightning strike is all it takes. Please stay alert, follow the burn ban, and help protect our community.

Certain zones have been downgraded. We like the sounds of that!

Zones along the US Hwy 20 corridor have been DOWNGRADED. Hwy 20 is OPEN.

LEVEL 3 (GO) EVACUATIONS now in place for zones MAH-E049-D and MAH-E049-C in Malheur County.

This is on the southeast side of the fire and now extends east of Owyhee Lake including the Honeycombs Wilderness Study Area, areas just south of Three Fingers Rock and just west of Round Mountain, and Succor Creek. Just north of Leslie Gulch.

Less than 10 miles as the crow flies from the Oregon/Idaho state line.

Evacuation Levels:
🟢 Level 1 – Be Ready: Stay informed and prepare to leave if conditions worsen.
🟡 Level 2 – Be Set: Be packed and ready to leave at a moment’s notice.
🔴 Level 3 – Go Now: Leave immediately. Do not delay.

Please stay alert, follow updates from local officials, and keep your family and pets prepared.

Zones have been upgraded this morning farther to the east and closer to Lake Owyhee. While Lake Owyhee is not yet in an Evacuation zone yet, visitors and recreators should understand that the Coleman Creek fire is moving in that direction.
This current configuration is precautionary only, and we don't expect the fires to make it this far. But we wanted folks alerted to the possibilities.

Some zones have elevated evacuation levels this morning. This is in anticipation of the weather we will be having on Saturday. Crews have done an excellent job in back burning and closing that fire zone in upon itself. We'll see how much of this fire still exists by tomorrow evening.
