Today marks the opening of applications for TWO City programs that could help your household budget!

⚡ 2027 ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
A little help keeping the lights on and the heat running this winter!

* $595 energy credit per eligible household
* Deadline: December 31, 2026
* Credits applied toward electric & fuel accounts

🏡 2027 PRIMARY RESIDENCE TAX EXEMPTION
Big changes mean potential savings for homeowners, but there's an important new step!

* Additional exemption of 77% of the remaining taxable value, after other exemptions
* Deadline: January 15, 2027
* Available to eligible homeowners who live in their home most of the year (at least 185 days)

My name is Renee, and I would like to invite you to the Valdez Senior Center's Community Transportation Meeting on November 4th, at 10am at the Valdez Senior Center. I am in the process of updating our Community Transportation Plan and want to hear from community members and key stakeholder organizations on their transportation needs, thoughts, and wishes for Valdez.

As you may know, the Valdez Senior Center offers free rides to the community daily, and this meeting will guide decisions made about the program, funding, and future investments. If there are other organizations or individuals you interact with that you believe should be at the table, please share the meeting information with them.

If you are unable to make the meeting but have thoughts or ideas, I am happy to meet with you separately, in person or on the phone.

Thank you Alyeska employees and their families for thinking of the Valdez Food Bank during your United Way 2026 Day of Caring!

“Alyeska employees and their families rolled up their sleeves to support the Valdez Food Bank during this year's Day of Caring. On Saturday, Jonathon Goold and Kate Dugan, along with sixth graders Ezra and Polly, helped stock shelves for families in need. The volunteer effort continued Sunday as Rich Loftin led a VMT team that included Jeff Keller and Dan Gilson in supporting food distribution.

Thank you to our team who gave their time and energy to help strengthen our neighbors. 💙💚”

Thank you to Easy Freeze owners, Mike and Donna, for your generosity and all the fishermen and fisherwomen who donated their catch to the Valdez Food Bank via Easy Freeze!

If your freezer is full and you still want to fish, you can consider dropping off cleaned/filleted fish at Easy Freeze to be processed at no cost to you which is then donated to the Valdez Food Bank for distribution.

Sadly, Easy Freeze is now closed for the season.

Thanks again to Easy Freeze’s generous community support and all those donating their catch for those who utilize the Valdez Food Bank. 🫶🎣
