Middle Georgia Community Food Bank was grateful to welcome representatives from the Office of U.S. Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock for an informative visit and conversation about federal grant funding opportunities.
A special thank you to Shavonda Hill, Middle Georgia Outreach Director, for returning to MGCFB and bringing Kristin Fulford, State Deputy Director, to tour our facility and share helpful guidance on the Congressionally Directed Spending process.
The visit provided valuable insight into examples of successful projects, how organizations can best prepare, and the importance of aligning funding requests with clearly defined community needs. Kathy McCollum, President and CEO, and Melody Carter, Director of Development, were especially pleased to have their questions answered regarding project readiness, application timing, and steps MGCFB can take to prepare for future opportunities.
Kristin encouraged our team to begin preparing early, noting, “The more work you do ahead of time, the more ready you’ll be when the process goes live.”
As Kathy shared, “We are grateful for partners who not only understand the needs of our neighbors, but also take the time to connect us with opportunities that can strengthen our work across Middle Georgia.”
We deeply appreciate Senator Warnock and his team for showing up, listening, and helping connect organizations like ours to resources that can make a meaningful difference for families, seniors, children, and communities across Middle Georgia.
