Rockwood School District students are stepping up for Circle families this Halloween week! National Honor Society students from Lafayette High School dropped off enough bags of Halloween candy to fill an entire bin. Because of the donation, Circle families can take a bag of candy as a bonus item to hand out to trick or treaters. Thank you for making Halloween fun for our Circle families!

Halloween week is more fun for our clients’ children, thanks to these two students from Rockwood School District's Marquette High School. They stopped by Circle with a big bag full of Halloween goodies to share with our families! The Key Club is a student-led service organization.

An abundant Thanksgiving meal is something many in our community cannot afford. While the more fortunate among us prepare holiday feasts, some families are unable to do a traditional celebration because food costs are out of reach.

Through the generosity of neighbors and partners in the community, Circle each year is able to provide eligible client households staples for a Thanksgiving feast, including a gift card for a turkey, a frozen pie, and other items to personalize their meal.

The meal is made extra special with side dishes donated by area churches, including Fellowship Of Wildwood, Living Word Church, Parkway United Church of Christ, St. John United Church of Christ, Manchester, MO, Trinity Lutheran Chesterfield, and Bethel Wildwood Church. We appreciate their help in making the holidays meaningful and joyful for our families.

Our Harvest Moon Trivia Night raised $21,500 for Circle of Concern!
It was a night of laughs, head-scratching questions, friendly competition, and a room full of generosity in support of families in our community. Thank you to everyone who attended, bought a table, sponsored the event, volunteered, and donated. A special shout-out to our event sponsors: Lizgistics, The Siesennop family, Fill His Shoes Family Trust, Control Devices, Roeslein & Associates, the Kiwanis Club of Crestwood-Sunset Hills, The Carlsen Family, and The Challis Family.

We’re wishing a fond farewell to pantry intern Mara who has completed her rotation at Circle of Concern. Mara is earning a master’s degree at Logan University with a goal of becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Mara’s family is from Chile and she’s lived all over the U.S. while pursuing her education. We wish Mara all the best, and we will miss having her energy and kind spirit here at Circle!

Did you know that Wednesday is our busiest day of the week? On Wednesdays, Circle of Concern’s Food Pantry is open from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and we have the largest number of clients. That means we have lots of staff and volunteers on duty, including caseworkers, pantry desk workers, and shoppers.

Janie and Keli are two volunteers who are part of our wonderful Wednesday crew. Janie greets and checks-in our clients at the pantry desk. Keli is one of our shoppers, meaning she accompanies our clients as they make selections in our client-choice food pantry.

We appreciate Janie and Keli and all of our volunteers every day of the week!

Our motto at Circle of Concern is “Feeding Families Is Just the Beginning.” That’s because we offer many programs in addition to our Food Pantry. This quote is from a thank you card sent by a longtime client who was helped by our many wraparound programs that shore up people at difficult times of life. We are thankful that we can help our clients in impactful ways.

Our partnership with our good friends at was the subject of a recent centerpiece story in . St. Martin’s Church presented Circle with a generous check of $2,000, the proceeds of their annual festival and car show. The article also mentions the ¼-acre church garden, which is on track to donate 3,000 pounds of food to Circle this year alone. We treasure this partnership with St. Martin’s Episcopal, and are proud to be featured with them in West News Magazine.
