The final NextStep small group gathering is Thursday. We'll take one more look at the topic of leadership in ministry. Pastors and ministry leaders, gather for a time of encouragement and plan to go to lunch afterwards.

Pearl Johnson took the gospel from Union to the nations. She grew up in Jonesville and attended Jonesville Baptist Church, where she became a follower of Christ and was baptized. After answering the call to missions, she served as a missionary in China from 1924 until 1940, leaving only because of war. In 1946, she returned and worked as a missionary for two and a half years before being among the last Baptist mission workers in the country until she was forced to leave by the government. In 1953, she began serving for 15 years in Taiwan.

In 1968, she retired after 44 years of dedicated service. She made her home in Union where she was active in sharing her life story of telling others about Jesus at churches and WMU conferences.

During the month of June, churches are encouraged to give to the Pearl Johnson Offering for Associational Missions. Contributions to the offering are used for the Crisis Ministry Network and local mission efforts as determined by the Union County Baptist Association WMU.

A soul who may have never heard the hope of Jesus.

Right now, believers around the world are preparing to meet people in this historic moment with the gospel.

This isn’t just about a sport.
It’s about the nations.

Equipping and empowering others to lead is part of the discipleship process. Pray for those who are being equipped to lead to do that well, and pray for those preparing them to know when it is time to give them opportunity to lead.
