They were found in a 5x10 kennel inside a collapsing barn among other horrific details...
Lentil and Millet came to us from one of the worst neglect cases we have ever been part of. They were growing calves who should have been out grazing, playing, and developing normally. Instead, they were severely underweight, scared, and living without the food, water, and space they needed.
Lentil arrived with ringworm, severe hair loss across his face, papilloma warts, and a body that was too weak for us to safely move forward with some of the care he needed. We wanted to get him castrated sooner, but he was too malnourished, and with the brutal summer heat, we could not risk putting his body through more than it was ready to handle.
Since then, they have made so much progress. Their body condition is improving, Lentil’s face has healed beautifully, and both of them are growing stronger, more confident, and more comfortable every day.
This is still part of the same fundraiser we started for Lentil and Millet. We were able to raise about $700 of our original $1,000 goal before the fundraiser lapsed, and that helped tremendously. But the truth is, we have already spent thousands on their care, and even the full $1,000 goal does not come close to covering everything they have needed.
We are hoping to at least raise the remaining $400 now to help cover the next steps. That includes continued refeeding support, skin care, checkups, vaccines, and Lentil’s castration.
They have already survived so much. Now we need to make sure the rest of their story looks NOTHING like the beginning. Even a few dollars or a share helps them have the life they should've had from the beginning . 💚
