Today we recognize the birthday of the United States Marine Forces Reserve, established on August 29, 1916.

For more than a century, Marine Reservists have answered the call whenever our nation has needed them. They are citizen-Marines who balance civilian careers, families, and communities while maintaining the training and readiness to deploy alongside active-duty Marines anywhere in the world.

Their motto, "Ready Then. Ready Now. Always Ready.", reflects a tradition of commitment, sacrifice, and service that has strengthened our nation's defense for generations.

Today we thank all past and present Marine Forces Reservists for their dedication and the sacrifices they and their families have made in service to our country.
