The Junior Rodeo Cowboys Association (JRCA) is a non-profit organization serving the rodeo interests of youth, ages 3-19, from across the Texas Panhandle, Northwest Texas and Western Oklahoma . Organized in 1998, the JRCA has enjoyed steady growth and now boasts around 300 members. Competitive Groups:
3&U Girls
3&U Boys
4-5 Girls
4-5 Boys
6-8 Girls
6-8 Boys
9-11 Girls
9-11 Boys
12-14 Girls
12-14

Boys
15-19 Girls
15-19 Boys

(Age as of Sept. 1, 2020)

You must compete in an event at 5 rodeos to qualify for the finals.

This is Texas.

This is small town down home gritty Texas football.

The Childress Bobcats needed somewhere to practice.

So they found somewhere.

Beginning this year, Texas schools are required to follow UIL’s new Wet Bulb Globe Temperature guidelines. The purpose is important — keeping kids safe in the brutal Texas heat.

Not every football program has an air-conditioned turf field sitting behind the field house.

There are hundreds of small schools scattered across this state where coaches and administrators are going to have to figure it out.

And this is what “figuring it out” looked like in Childress.

Shoutout to all our rural educators and coaches figuring it out daily….

Even when it means going in the barn!!

It’s a safe bet that our kids won’t ride in to an arena in our area that doesn’t have an HF&C banner hanging in it, and our finals were no exception. The Mashburn proudly displays the black and red and we carry it with us to every rodeo, the HF&C flag flies at the beginning of every performance as our small offer of thanks to Susan and her crew, who gives from her heart to all of our athletes and has for many years!

Our awards sponsors made the kids smile all season but they really brought it for the finals! HF&C, Champions Choice, Slone Saddles, Scott Thomas Saddles and the Happy Toy Maker delivered prizes every contestant is proud to use and wear! The amount of thought and effort is truly an act of love!
