Hey guys, we’re putting the finishing touches on Phase 1 of our new fire station, and it will be open soon to answer calls!

We’re holding an open house on Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. to allow anyone who helped with this project to see its completion. We’re also excited about members of our community touring the facility and meeting the chief and volunteer firefighters.

It’s hard to believe it was Labor Day weekend last year when we had our community meeting that drew a standing room-only crowd! Now, a year later on Labor Day weekend our community will see its new fire station ready for service.

I hope you can join us on Saturday, Sept 5 at 10 a.m. for a brief ceremony followed by a tour of the station.

Saturday proved to be a productive and successful day. Early Saturday morning, we received a generous donation of bottled water from the ladies of Mu Alpha Mu Multicultural Christian Sorority Inc, which is greatly appreciated by our firefighters and consistently in demand.

Subsequently, several of our team members visited Rex Lumber to assist with the removal of debris accumulated under the scales, resulting from incoming log trucks and outgoing chips, shavings, and bark. We were pleased to offer our support, recognizing their consistent assistance to our organization.

We're one step closer to opening the new station in Shellhorn!

On Friday Aug. 7th we got 15 pallets of beautiful, premium sod from Beck's Turf, located in Tuskegee.

Big thanks to Sheriff Russell Thomas and the Jail Administrator for letting us use some inmate workers. They worked super hard with some of our crew, and we got it all done by 7:30pm!

Also big thanks to Jason Adams for doing the final dirt work in preparation for the sod as well as helping lay it. And Debra Davis for securing the sod and the delivery as well as helping lay it.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Sheriff Russell Thomas and his staff for graciously hosting an appreciation dinner for all the dedicated volunteer firefighters in Pike County. We are truly thankful for the excellent working relationship we share with the Sheriff's Department.
