After her grandmother contracted a preventable infection during a routine hospital stay, Colleen Costello Kristensen ’12 refused to accept it as inevitable.

She co-founded Vyv, a health tech company using antimicrobial light technology to reduce bacteria and make spaces like hospitals and schools safer for everyone.

HUGE congratulations to Karthik Bala ’97 and his brother, Guha Bala and the entire team at Velan Studios on this incredible opportunity!

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Troy-based Velan Studios is the developer behind a remake of the classic Nintendo 64 game Star Fox — coming soon to the Nintendo Switch 2! 🌟🦊

RPI alumnus Karthik Bala ’97 and his brother, Guha Bala, co-founded Velan Studios in 2016, right in the heart of downtown Troy. Their track record speaks for itself — as the founders of game development studio Vicarious Visions, they brought us iconic titles like Guitar Hero, Crash Bandicoot, and Tony Hawk before founding Velan and transforming it into a powerhouse studio.

This is Velan's second major Nintendo collaboration, following their hugely creative Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit in 2020.
