The Mississippi M.O.V.E. Project (MS MOVE), founded in 2004, is a non-partisan voter participation organization in the state of Mississippi. M.O.V.E.

is dedicated to moving Mississippi forward by increasing participation of disenfranchised voters in the democratic process at the local, state and federal level. We do this by strengthening the capacity, experience and skills of leaders, networks, and organizations through programs that consistently train, organize, develop, expand and mobilize leaders and voters around an agenda that reflects their values. Day 2 of the One Voice and Mississippi MOVE Community Organizing Training was nothing short of inspiring!

The room was buzzing with shared purpose, deep wisdom, and an undeniable passion for our communities. From our seasoned community leaders to the bright, energetic young organizers who joined us, every single voice brought vital perspective to the table. Seeing multiple generations sit together to strategize for lasting change was a powerful reminder that our future is in capable, determined hands.

Here is a look at what we tackled:

* SWOT Analysis in Action: We dug deep into our collective Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats, looking honestly at our landscape to find the most effective paths forward.
* Community Power Mapping: Participants rolled up their sleeves to identify decision-makers, influential community hubs, and the everyday power networks that can help shift policy and resources where they are needed most.
* Youth-Led Energy: Our youth participants brought fresh insight, boldness, and creativity to every breakout group, showing us exactly how modern organizing connects across generations.

We wrapped up the day by turning all of our big ideas into tangible action: laying out clear next steps, building robust communication plans to keep everyone connected, gathering valuable feedback from attendees, and dividing up task lists so the momentum continues well beyond this weekend.

Thank you to everyone who showed up ready to learn, share, and build together. The work is real, the love for Mississippi is strong, and we are just getting started!

Day 1: Mississippi MOVE and One Voice came together for Organizing 101—a hands-on training focused on strengthening the skills, strategies, and relationships needed to build power in our communities.

From understanding the fundamentals of grassroots organizing to developing stronger outreach, engagement, and leadership practices, the training created space for organizers and community members to learn, connect, and prepare for the work ahead.

Effective organizing starts with informed people, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to action. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and to One Voice for continuing to invest in building a stronger, more engaged Mississippi.

SHIELD Act: How We Move Forward - Build Your Voter Protection Packet!

Don't let database glitches steal your voice. Mississippi MOVE is urging everyone to practice "Document Readiness" right now. Protect yourself by gathering these documents into a personal packet:

Check Your Info: Make sure your voter registration exactly matches your current photo ID.

Name Changes: If you're a married woman whose current name doesn't perfectly match your birth certificate, make sure your ID is updated and keep a certified copy of your marriage license ready.

Proof of Status: If you are a naturalized citizen, have a copy of your naturalization papers or passport safely stored and ready to go.

Look Out for Neighbors: Check on older family members born in the segregated South who may lack official hospital birth certificates, so we can help them secure secondary proof.

We are not giving up our power. Add this checklist to your resources against clean and clear voting this upcoming election season.

PRESS CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT

Mississippi M.O.V.E. (Motivating and Organizing Voters for Empowerment) is proud to announce that we are a recipient of the 2026 Grant!

Thanks to the generous support from AARP and AARP Livable Communities, we are launching an exciting new initiative dedicated to improving the lives of older adults and building a more livable Jackson for residents of all ages.

This grant will directly fund three transformative community programs:

* Ride & Connect: A dedicated transportation program.
* Digital Literacy Hubs: Free Wi-Fi and workshops to close the digital divide.
* Enhanced Public Spaces: Installing ADA benches, raised garden beds, and signature features.

A coalition of the League of Women Voters Pine Belt, the Forrest County NAACP, Mississippi Votes Action Fund, Mississippi MOVE and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity is hosting another public forum on the issue of voter suppression.

The upcoming forum will be held at the C.E. Roy Community Center on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 300 East 5th Street, Hattiesburg, MS 39401. Doors will open at 6:00PM with the forum beginning at 6:30PM.

The focus of this forum is “Breaking Silence and Building Connection” as a powerful way to stand up against voter suppression.

The coalition seeks always to make the case for maximum participation in politics by citizens.

You are invited to join the sponsoring organizations and The Storied South, a dynamic organization of recent high school graduates who will facilitate the forum.

Come to the CE Roy Center this coming Tuesday, June 2, at 6PM, enjoy light refreshments, and participate in a forum where your voice can be heard and where we will set the stage for your vote to be counted.
