Welcome to Day 9 of the Gamma Psi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s 10 Days of Influential Ladies series! As we honor the last 10 days of Black History Month, we continue to highlight Black women who have broken barriers and paved the way for future generations.
Today, we celebrate Lieutenant Colonel Charity Adams Earley, a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and a trailblazer in the U.S. military. During World War II, she became the first African American officer in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) and later commanded the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the only all-Black, all-female unit deployed overseas.
Her leadership, resilience, and commitment to excellence in the face of adversity embody the spirit of service and sisterhood. Charity Adams Earley’s legacy reminds us of the strength, courage, and impact of Black women in leadership.
Join us tomorrow as we conclude this series by honoring another phenomenal Black woman!
