Reflecting on this year brings both joy and sadness. Our joy is for the generous donations from families, friend and companies who truly care which has allowed us to expand our network from two hospitals and two Ronald McDonald Houses to 6 hospitals, 2 Ronald McDonald Houses and one Childhood Cancer Respite Center in just one year! With that has come a flood of families in need. Just a small sampling of some of our joyous accomplishments:
We adopted 45 children and 19 parents and supplied their Holiday gifts, along with a $200 Visa gift card to insure that they have the Holiday celebration that they so deserve.
We sent over 250 handmade Holiday cards to children and their parents containing surprise Amazon and Walmart gift cards.
We sent three families on weekend getaways to make memories and relax without hospitals, doctors and treatments.
We sent beautiful handmade dolls, bears, warm blankets, "Loveys" and hats to hundreds of young cancer warriors children across the Country
Our sadness comes from the sheer desperate need that some of our families face; so many parents have to leave their jobs to care for their child 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. For those families, the need is great! We have paid for funerals for children whose parents are simply financially spent, we have paid for rent for families who are facing eviction, we have paid for food for families whose cupboards are bare and we have paid for gas and Ubers so parents can transport their very sick children to the hospital. In a Country with so much excess, it is difficult to understand why. These children are our future and they have done nothing to deserve what is happening to them. Regardless of our religion, political affiliation...these families deserve better!
As we head into 2026, my prayer is as it always is.....that Nicole's Hope can continue in its mission to lessen the burden on families of children undergoing treatment for cancer and to bring smiles to the faces of our precious young cancer patients.
Wishes for a Wonderful Holiday Season and a New Year filled with Hope for our children.
