🎉🦝 WE PASSED! WILD’N OUT WILDLIFE RESCUE & REHAB IS NOW USDA LICENSED! 🦉🐾
We are incredibly proud and excited to announce that Wild’N Out Wildlife Rescue & Rehab has successfully passed our USDA inspection and is now officially USDA licensed! 🇺🇸🐾
This is a HUGE milestone for our rescue—and one that represents so much more than a piece of paper.
So, what does USDA licensing actually mean for a wildlife rehabilitation facility?
The United States Department of Agriculture, through its Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA-APHIS), administers the federal Animal Welfare Act. For facilities that fall under the Act, USDA establishes and enforces standards related to the humane care, handling, housing, sanitation, veterinary care, recordkeeping, and overall welfare of regulated animals. Licensed facilities are subject to inspections to ensure those standards are being met.
But why would a wildlife rehab want to go through all of this?
Because we believe the animals deserve it. ❤️
Wildlife rehabilitation is about much more than feeding an orphaned baby or nursing an injured animal back to health. It requires proper housing, nutrition, sanitation, veterinary care, documentation, handling procedures, disease prevention, and careful preparation for eventual release.
Choosing to become USDA licensed means we are voluntarily putting our facility and our standards under another level of professional oversight and accountability.
It tells our community:
🐾 We take animal welfare seriously.
🏡 We are committed to providing safe, appropriate housing and care.
🩺 We take veterinary care and medical needs seriously.
📋 We maintain professional records and protocols.
🧼 We prioritize sanitation, disease prevention, and a clean rehabilitation environment.
📚 We are committed to continually improving our knowledge and practices.
🤝 We want our community, supporters, veterinarians, agencies, and fellow rehabilitators to know that we are serious about the work we do.
And perhaps most importantly…
It helps us build a stronger foundation for the future of wildlife rehabilitation in our community.
Every animal that comes through our doors represents a life that deserves the very best chance we can give it.
Our goal isn't simply to keep wildlife alive.
Our goal is to rehabilitate, restore, and release healthy, wild animals back where they belong. 🌳🐾
Becoming USDA licensed strengthens our ability to do that while giving our community another reason to have confidence in the care their wildlife receives.
This inspection represents countless hours of work, cleaning, building, documenting, learning, preparing, worrying 😂, and making sure we were ready.
And today we get to say:
WE PASSED! 🎉🎉🎉
From all of us at Wild’N Out Wildlife Rescue & Rehab—THANK YOU. ❤️
Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our posts, encouraged us, helped us build, supplied food and medical necessities, supported our animals, and believed in our mission.
This isn't just our accomplishment.
It's a win for every wild animal that will one day pass through our doors. 🦝🦊🦨🦉🐿️🦌🐈⬛
And we're just getting started. ❤️🌿
