Terre Haute Police Department Seeking Public Assistance in Locating Wanted Individual
On September 2, 2026, Terre Haute Police Department officers responded to Walmart for a report of criminal conversion involving two adult females and a juvenile.
During the investigation, officers identified the two adult females using Indiana identification cards and issued summonses to appear in court. The juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Center after officers were unable to locate or contact a parent or guardian.
One of the adult females subsequently failed to appear for her scheduled court date, resulting in a warrant being issued for her arrest. The warrant was later served by the Vigo County Sheriff's Office.
Shortly after the individual was taken into custody, it was discovered that she was not involved in the original theft investigation and that another individual had allegedly provided officers with an identification card belonging to her.
Through further investigation, the actual suspect was identified as Melissa Spivey of Terre Haute.
Spivey is currently wanted on an arrest warrant for the following charges:
Felony Theft
Felony Identity Deception
Misdemeanor Theft
We are requesting the public's assistance in locating Melissa Spivey. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Terre Haute Police Department at 812-238-1661 or Vigo County Central Dispatch at 812-232-3801.
