“Consolidation, if we like it or not, is going to happen. So, let’s just do it right.”

A perspective worth hearing: the students speaking out aren’t focused on North vs. South. They just want a good school.

The school funding request deserves a place on the October agenda.

It has been almost a year since the Vigo County Oversight Board was formed. A year of questions. A year of research. A year of digging into every detail of this plan. And that process worked exactly the way it was supposed to: the Oversight Board found more than $30 million in savings for Vigo County taxpayers.

The system worked. The independent review worked. The responsible path forward is clear.

We want to acknowledge and sincerely thank the council members who have shown up, listened to the concerns of our students and families, engaged seriously with the details and worked hard to move this forward. Your commitment to this community does not go unnoticed and we are grateful.

And yet here we are…still waiting for it to be considered by the full Council.

Meanwhile costs are increasing. Students are graduating and leaving West Central Indiana. Businesses are leaving and taking good paying jobs with them. Every month of delay has a real cost that falls on real people in our community.

The time to act is now. Not after another committee. Not after another delay. Now.

We are asking every Vigo County resident who believes our kids deserve better to contact their council member today and request that the school funding recommendation be placed on October's agenda.

The Oversight Board did its job. The Commissioners did their job. Now it is time for all the members of the Vigo County Council to do theirs.

📧 Email your council member today. Tell them October cannot wait.

Thank you to the Vigo County Council for hearing the Oversight Board presentation and asking questions of the people who have spent many hours working on this project.

As committed during the meeting, a group of council members will be meeting with Commissioners, Oversight Board members and the Vigo County School Corporation to get their questions answered in more details this week. Once a date and time has been set, we will share the livestream link here for everyone to view online.

We’re looking forward to open, respectful dialogue, as well as the next County Council meeting as this important community project moves forward.
