Join us in congratulating our Deputy Director and Co-Founder, Megan Powell, for being named to Greenville Business Magazine's 2026 Best & Brightest Under 35!

Megan co-founded Time Served in 2023 at 26 and now helps lead our team serving nearly 500 South Carolinians a year.

This recognition is a reflection of her dedicated leadership and her heart in serving the community she grew up in. Time Served would not be what it is today without her talent and dedication.

Megan, we are so proud to celebrate you today and every day🎉❤️

National Nonprofit Day🎉🎉

Today, on National Nonprofit Day, we’re celebrating the people who make our nonprofit work possible.

Since 2023, Time Served has provided free legal representation to more than 1,450 South Carolinians impacted by the criminal legal system—helping people rebuild their lives, restore their freedoms, and reconnect with their families and communities.

But we don’t do this work alone.

Every client we serve is made possible by YOU—our community members, partners, volunteers, donors, and supporters who believe that a past conviction should not define someone’s future.

Whether you give your time, share our work, or make a financial contribution, you are part of the change.

Thank you for believing in the work. Thank you for believing in second chances. 🧡💚

✨Feature Friday✨

This Friday morning was made a little sweeter by this feature of our partners at Soteria Community Development Corporation and our Board Chair, Jerry Blassingame!

Through our partnership, we regularly serve Soteria participants with their reentry legal needs and reach the wider community through joint record cleaning clinics. We are deeply grateful for Jerry's leadership in reentry and affordable housing, as well as on our Board.

Please join us in wishing Oscar a warm congratulations on his new home!

Oscar Jimenez spent most of his adult life cycling through prisons across the U.S. He credits God, his little brother and a found family at Soteria for giving him a chance at a new life.

Mark your calendars🎉🎉

On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 6:00 PM-9:00 PM, Time Served will celebrate its third anniversary at our annual fundraising event, “III: Three Years In. Just Getting Started.” Hosted at New Realm Brewing Company (912 South Main Street, Greenville), the event will bring together more than 100 community members, civic leaders, advocates, and donors for an evening of live music, client storytelling, and complimentary food and beverages.

Three years in, Time Served remains South Carolina’s only nonprofit legal services organization dedicated exclusively to currently and formerly incarcerated individuals. The funds raised at this event directly support free legal representation for clients pursuing expungements, pardons, driver’s license reinstatement, parole advocacy, and innocence claims — legal pathways that restore employment eligibility, housing access, and full economic participation for South Carolinians reentering their communities.

Registration will be available soon - will we see you there?

🎉 Feature Friday! 🎉

This week we’re highlighting our partnership with Upstate Warrior Solution, and there’s no better way to do it than through a big client win.

Upstate Warrior Solution serves veterans and their families across the Upstate, connecting them with the resources they need to thrive after service. Through their Justice Involved Veterans Outreach (JIVO) program, UWS makes sure veterans navigating the legal system don’t have to do it alone — pairing them with support and partners who can address the legal barriers standing in their way. That’s where we come in.

One of those referrals came to us with a suspended license and a pending Driving Under Suspension charge. We discovered his license was suspended for financial reasons only, went into court to bring that burden down to something he could actually meet, and got his license fully reinstated. On top of that, we got his Driving Under Suspension charges dismissed — charges that would have reset the entire cycle if they’d stuck.

This is what partnership looks like: UWS saw a Warrior who needed help, pointed him our way, and together we got him back on the road. ✅

Grateful for partners like Upstate Warrior Solution.

Behind every expungement, pardon, parole hearing, and license reinstatement is a lot of careful case management. We’re grateful for our Case Management partners at LegalServer for helping us serve our clients more efficiently and letting us focus on what matters most— removing barriers for people rebuilding their lives. We’re also grateful to the Indigo Hope Foundation for funding our transition to this new case management system!

✨ FeatureFriday ✨

Time Served is deeply grateful for the continued support of the South Carolina Bar Foundation!2026-2027 marks our third year of sustained funding support from the South Carolina Bar Foundation, and they have been integral to our expanded reentry and release legal services.

Since launching in 2023, Time Served has helped more than 1,200 South Carolinians navigate the legal barriers that stand between them and a second chance. This would not have be possible without the South Carolina Bar Foundation’s support.

The South Carolina Bar Foundation promotes justice by funding legal access and education across our state. Since 1971, the Foundation has awarded more than $65 million to law-related organizations serving South Carolinians.

By intentionally connecting grantees and integrating us into the broader legal community, the Foundation has driven more collaboration and innovation in our SC legal aid sector. If you come to one of our community clinics, you will probably see fellow grantees alongside us, and possibly even the Foundation’s Executive Director, Olivia Stafford Jones!

Through partnerships like this one, we can continue expanding access to justice and creating opportunities for system-impacted individuals and families across our state.

Thank you to the for investing in second chances and stronger communities across South Carolina.

☀️ Last week at Isle of Palms, Allison Elder from Time Served, our Executive Director Olivia Jones, Alissa Lietzow from Charleston Pro Bono Legal Services, and Mary Vosburgh from Charleston Legal Access, gathered to engage with the South Carolina Bar's Leadership Academy program. It was great to see so many of our grantees in one place! 💙
