Plastic is detrimental to the environment and poses significant health risks. Only 8% of plastic gets recycled, leaving the rest to be burned at the many incinerators that many cities use to dispose of their trash. This means the toxic petrochemicals of plastics are now in the air, water, and soil. The petrochemicals in plastics have been linked to many evils, such as cancer and infertility. I have no doubt fact that humans are getting cancer at younger and younger ages is directly linked to the overuse of plastics.
