๐Ÿ’œ September is Kinship Care Month!

This month, MercyFirst is proud to recognize Ms. Tiffany Maisonet, whose commitment to her younger sister is a powerful example of the love and stability kinship caregivers provide.

When her sister entered foster care, Ms. Maisonet immediately stepped forward to provide a safe and supportive home. Through her dedication, accountability, reliability, and perseverance, she has remained a consistent source of encouragement and belonging, helping her sister overcome challenges, graduate from high school, and continue her education in college.

Ms. Maisonetโ€™s commitment to caring for others also extends to her community. She is working toward opening The House of Ruth, a group home dedicated to providing young women with a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where they can not only survive, but thrive.

During Kinship Care Month, we celebrate Ms. Maisonet and all kinship caregivers who open their homes and hearts to help keep families connected and strong. ๐Ÿ’œ

Through his Backpacks of Hope project, Tristan generously donated 60 backpacks filled with school supplies, along with bins of additional supplies, to help the children and youth we serve start the school year prepared and ready to learn.

We are grateful to Tristan and Troop 240 for their generosity and commitment to giving back to their community. ๐Ÿ’™

As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a trauma-informed and trauma-responsive culture, MercyFirst recently partnered with the Sanctuary Institute to provide specialized training for our residential staff and supervisors.

A total of 132 staff members participated in sessions focused on strengthening trauma-responsive practices, reinforcing the Sanctuary Model's Seven Commitments, and creating safe, supportive environments where healing and hope can thrive.

Thank you to Ibet Hernandez from the Sanctuary Institute for facilitating these engaging and impactful trainings and for helping strengthen our shared commitment to the children, youth, and families we serve. ๐Ÿ’™

We are honored to be featured in the 2026 CBIS Impact Report as a recipient of support from the FSC Foundation.

Thanks to this generous partnership, MercyFirst's Post Permanency Support Program Tutoring Initiative is helping youth who have transitioned from foster care through adoption or kinship guardianship receive the academic support they need to succeed, while also creating paid employment opportunities for young adults with lived foster care experience as peer tutors.

We're grateful to the FSC Foundation and CBIS for investing in innovative programs that strengthen families, empower young people, and create brighter futures. Thank you for helping make this important work possible.

Weโ€™re excited to share the 2026 CBIS Impact Report, highlighting how Catholic Responsible Investments can help transform the world through faith-consistent investing.

This yearโ€™s report tells a global story through a regional lens, showing how CBISโ€™ work connects Catholic social teaching with real-world impact across communities, markets, and regions.

Through our approach to Engage, Enhance, and Exclude, CBIS continues to help Catholic investors align their assets with their mission while working toward meaningful outcomes in human life and dignity, economic justice and the common good, and care for creation.
