The Sunriver Women’s Club is a non-profit community service organization. Membership is open to all women in Sunriver, the surrounding areas and communities.

The Sunriver Women’s Club (SRWC) is a non-profit community service organization. Our Mission is:

To engage in philanthropic endeavors providing social and community enrichment to our members and our neighborhoods. Our Goals are:

To maintain a club for fellowship and recreation
To engage in charitable and educational activities
To promote the social welfare of residents of Sunriver and surrounding communities

The membership year runs October 1 through September 30.

Member Spotlight: Mary Elizabeth Horan

Mary Elizabeth first connected with Sunriver Women’s Club after reading about our “Power of 100+” project in the Sunriver Scene and making a donation, even before she lived in the area. She officially joined four years ago to get to know people, build a community and find a portal for community service.

Since then, she has jumped right in. Now in her third year as program director, Mary Elizabeth has volunteered with Art Meets W**e in Sunriver, Sunriver Art Fair and Hands to Hearts. She also participates in numerous clubs, including a book club, and leads at least one activity each year for Cycling, Kayaking, Winter Fun, Loose Cannons and the hiking groups.

A retired clinical psychologist, Mary Elizabeth enjoys problem-solving and organizing. “Volunteering gives me purpose, keeping my mind active while allowing me to pay it forward,” she says.

Her advice to fellow members? “We don’t know what tomorrow brings, so make the most of what is available to you and what interests you.”

Beginning with the Spring 2027 Community Grant cycle, the Sunriver Women’s Club will return to one annual grant cycle.

After thoughtful discussion, the Philanthropy Committee recommended — and the Board approved — this change to help make our Community Grant Program more efficient, responsible and sustainable.

With one annual cycle beginning in February, the committee will have a clear picture of the funds available after the previous year’s fundraising is complete. This allows us to make informed decisions about how to distribute grant funding to organizations serving south Deschutes County.

The change will also simplify the application and tracking process for grant applicants and reduce the committee’s overall workload throughout the year, creating more opportunities for members to volunteer in other ways.

Our commitment to supporting south Deschutes County remains strong. This change is about making sure the Community Grant Program can continue to do that in a practical and sustainable way.

Please keep the Community Grant Program in mind as you plan your charitable giving!

October Luncheon: The Civilian Conservation Corps in Oregon: A Living Legacy

Join us for an engaging presentation with Glenn Voelz, local historian, author specializing in Oregon history, and member of the Deschutes County Historical Society Board.

Glenn will discuss how a single idea put millions of unemployed Americans to work during the depths of the Great Depression and helped restore the nation’s public lands.

Member Spotlight: Nancy Chin

Nancy Chin joined the Sunriver Women’s Club in 2024 after her “second” retirement, seeking adventures closer to her home south of Sunriver. After spending more than 30 years in the Portland area as a clinical pharmacist, she relocated to Central Oregon five years ago.

Nancy and her family have always embraced an active lifestyle, exploring trails locally and abroad by foot, bike, skis and watercraft. She was immediately drawn to the Club’s wide variety of activities and inspired by “the diverse, friendly, fun and talented leaders and members.”

Eager to try something new, Nancy quickly became involved leading and co-leading Hearty Soles hikes, cycling events - including fat-tire biking - and kayaking trips. She’s also an active participant in many Loose Cannons adventures.

Nancy currently serves on the Club’s Board of Directors as secretary, and for her, volunteering is a way to give back to a club that has given her so much.

Her advice to fellow members? “Start where your passion lies and you'll find like-minded souls.”

In spring 2026, Sunriver Women’s Club awarded Heart of Oregon Corps $5,000 to support its eight-week summer job program.

Offered through the Central Oregon Youth Conservation Corps’ partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council, the program provides minimum-wage positions for five youth ages 16–18 in south Deschutes County.

Crew leaders serve as mentors and job coaches, teaching basic workplace skills such as punctuality and strategies for working well with others, while also encouraging participants to complete high school and move on to further education.

We’re proud to support programs that give local young people opportunities to build confidence, gain valuable work experience, and take the next steps toward building their future.

Summer break is over, visitors to our lovely Sunriver community have gone back to their homes, and now it’s time for us to reconnect with each other!

Join us for the 2026 “Welcome Back” Event on Wednesday, September 23, from 4–6 p.m. at Sunriver Brewing Taproom. Come reconnect with old friends and make new ones!

This is a no-host event. Enjoy good food and drinks from Sunriver Brewing Taproom’s extensive bar, along with treats from Hot Lava’s food truck.
