Cara Gerdiman-Director at Kids' Harbor in Osage Beach was our guest speaker today. She gave us an update of their operations, how many children they serve and the many processes that take place to help abused children in 10 counties in and around the lake. It take a team of doctors, nurses, counselors, investigators, child advocates and so much more, to help children in an abusive situation. Our club supports organizations like Kids' Harbor and we presented a them with a check.
If you are interested in learning more about their mission, please call 573.348.6886. They also do tours of their facility by appointment and welcome anyone who might be interested in volunteering for them.

Our next regular LSB Rotary Club meeting will be Thursday, July 2nd at 12noon at Carmalita's in Laurie. Our speaker will be Krista Carter from Medical Missions for Christ.

Mark Shellenberg and I met at Laurie, MO's Patriot Rock, and it's a definite must see. Ray ‘Bubba” Sorenson II finished the painting on the 6 ft. x 10 ft. x 3 ft.(apprx) boulder the Fall of 2024, which commemorates and honors all Veterans and Emergency Responders. The beautiful Patriot Rock sits right off of Hwy 5 in Laurie next to Sonic and in front of the REMAX / City Hall building.

After the installation of the metal soffit and lighting, the pavilion will not only protect the Patriot Rock but will showcase its beauty for all to enjoy. The enhancement committee will be adding additional features to the surrounding property which will include additional flagpoles displaying flags of each military branch, commemorative benches., as well as the efforts of grounds beautification to draw spectators to enjoy the Laurie Patriot Rock. The enhancement committee has already installed a metal sign exhibit that displays the names and the rank of veterans and active military personnel.

Mark Shellenberg, pictured here, is the organizer for the Patriot Rock project and part of the enhancement committee. He was very excited to receive funds from our club to help support the enhancements mentioned above. There is quite a bit of work left to do on the project and there will be need for upkeep.

If you would like to support this project, have your veteran or active service person added to the exhibit or gain additional information regarding the origination that brought the Patriot Rock to Laurie, you can reach out to Mark at 573-374-7775. A check or cash can also be dropped off at the Laurie City Hall or any Central Bank of Lake of the Ozarks locations. Checks can be made payable to The Patriot Rock Fund LOTO and mailed to:
