Big thank you to SoMo technical institute for the amazing paint job on our newest truck acquired from the Missouri department of conservation. This is a much needed addition to our department and asset to our community.

Unseasonably warm temperatures in the 70s along with low humidity levels in the 25 to 35 percent range and southwest winds gusting up to 15 to 25 mph will lead to elevated fire weather conditions again on Saturday.

‼️NO BURNING‼️
The National Weather Service out of Springfield, Missouri has issued a Red Flag Warning for Howell County.
If you have anything that has been burned over the past few days please go back over the area and ensure full extinguishment. With the forcasted winds of 40+ MPH today, any slight embers could very well become a large incident.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of a true leader, mentor, and friend. Roy not only helped our department in many ways, but every department around. You will be missed Chief.

Today, we pause to honor and remember a true pillar of the fire service.

After dedicating 40 years to serving others, Fire Chief Roy Sims retired in 2020, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to protect and strengthen our community for generations. His leadership and vision were instrumental in securing over $2 million in federal grant funding and additional resources that helped shape West Plains Fire & Rescue and the Region G All-Hazards Response Team into the capable, well-equipped organizations they are today.

His impact went far beyond equipment and funding — it was felt in the readiness of our crews, the safety of our responders, and the lives saved because of his commitment to the mission. The fire service is better because he served, and we are grateful for the foundation he helped build.

We honor his service, his dedication, and the lasting mark he leaves on the fire service family.
Rest easy — your watch has ended, but your legacy lives on. 🚒🖤
