This weekend we were in Fayetteville, NC at the 2-6 BBQ Throwdown hosted by the one and only Bruce Yeomans. This was a fantastic 20 team competition with 3 meats. Congratulations to Smoke Central BBQ for their Grand Champion call and to Big Wally's Barbecue for their Reserve Grand Champion call.

Do your kids like to help when you’re grilling? If yes, then here’s a chance to have them learn how to compete in an actual BBQ contest! Southern BBQ Network (SBN) will conduct its annual Kids Que competition on Friday night, November 13th at the Moncks Corner Recreational Park. There are two classifications, Juniors ages 6 to 10 and Seniors 11 to 16. This year the Grand Champion in BOTH groups will receive a certificate to attend the Southern Thunder BBQ School’s Kids’ Cooking class in Atlanta Georgia and a custom cutting board. There are more prizes and gifts for all the participants. The event is in conjunction with our annual Invitational event where the top teams from the past year compete for the 2026 Grand Champion. This past Saturday The Southern BBQ Network held its annual membership meeting in Columbia, SC. Karen Wantuch Cowell was presented with a custom made maple cutting board as well as a certificate of appreciation for everything she has done for the SBN. Karen has served many roles within SBN most recently she served as President. Karen is now the CEO for The SBN and Christian Butters is the incoming President for the 26-28 seasons.

In November of 2025 the Southern BBQ Network held its annual Invitational in Moncks Corner, SC in conjunction with the Moncks Corner Lions Club. At our annual membership meeting held this past Saturday Twister BBQ (now Flamemingo BBQ) recieved their banner for winning the Invitational! Congrats Flamemingo BBQ!

On Saturday August 8th the Southern BBQ Network officially crowned our 2025-2026 BBQ season "Team of the Year". The SBN would like to congratulate The Rusty Porker for being crowned the 2025-2026 Team of the Year and also earning them The AL Wirts Trophy. Congrats to Ultimate Tailgaters BBQ Hog Tied BBQ INC and In The Army Que for a strong run to the end the year for Team of the Year!
