FIREMEN'S BALL UPDATE:
The goal of this event is to raise money to replace Engine 9012, which is 50 years old and ready to retire. We will use the event proceeds to purchase a "new to us" engine.
The first event we would like to highlight is the Gun Raffle. We will raffle 2 guns on Nov 7th. Only 750 tickets will be sold and they cost $20 each or 3 for $50. You can buy tickets from any firefighter or EMT. If you don't know anyone, call 904-509-5827, or reply to this email and Michele will connect you with a nearby firefighter.

More information will follow as we firm up the details.

The Sula Rural Fire District Trustees will be resurrecting the Firemen's Ball from years ago. We hope to see everyone on November 7th at 5pm at the Sula Clubhouse.

The event is open to all and there is no cost to get in.

In a recent training we had LifeFlight come to Station 4 and teach us about helicopter transport. West Fork FD was able to join us and it was a very informative evening for all who attended.

Its that time of year again!!! Don't miss the pond skim at Lost Trail Pass Skiesta. We delivered 32,000 gallons of water to fill the ponds. Thanks to the volunteers of Sula, Darby and North Fork fire departments. The water was 104 degrees when we dropped it so get there early before it cools off. Thank you Matt Roth of the Florence FD for facilitating an MCI training for our department last night. We learned a lot to help our community and everyone had a great time. We look forward to having him join us again for training.

It feels like spring out there now! Open burning starts tomorrow, March 1 at 0800 (8am). You will need to activate your burn permit EVERY time you burn.

Unfortunately, we are at an above average risk of wildfire. Strong winds are expected for the next week, which could carry fire to dry grasses, needles and dead fuels.

Use caution when burning and make sure you have a water source and extinguishing items on hand. NEVER leave a burn unattended.

If you have already applied for a burn permit in the past, please use your previous burn permit number and reactivate it for the 2026 season. The link to do this is towards the bottom of the screen

Follow the prompts until you get to the list of options and choose "Renew an existing burn permit"
You only have to do this once per year.

Then you go back to this list any time you want to burn and select "Activate an existing burn permit"

If you do not have a burn permit number from a past year, click on https://ravallicounty.gov/501/Burning-Permits and follow the instructions in the middle of the screen

Obtaining a burn permit for the first time
(Note, each subsequent year, you will renew, using the same permit #.)

Burning without a permit can result in a fine, so please make sure you get your permit and activate it. THEY ARE FREE!
If you need help getting your permit, reply to this email with your name and phone number. Someone will then call you to help you get set up.
