This page is the official Facebook presence of the Air Force Sergeants Association and is managed by HQ AFSA.
We reserve the right to terminate your access to this forum at any time. The men and women behind the high-tech machinery, the military protocol, the daring maneuvers ... the people who have invested their lives in the cause of freedom in America. Each year Congress makes hundreds of decisions on issues that directly affect the lives of enlisted people and their families. Important issues such as medical care, job security, salaries, commissary privileges, and other benefits. There was a time when the voice of the enlisted Airman was nowhere to be heard ... until the Spring of l96l when a handful of men came together to form the Air Force Sergeants Association. AFSA is an international organization dedicated to speaking out on behalf of enlisted Air Force personnel and today, with nearly 135,000 AFSA members, the voice of the enlisted rings strong on Capitol Hill. We defend the rights of those who defend our nation.

Family Matters Friday with Carey Crance, AFSA Family Matters Trustee | It is Halloween Eve, and I can’t think of anything scarier than wondering whether the house you live in is safe. Families at bases around the world often have this question. When our families look up information about a new base, housing is one of the top things we look into.

Some people decide living on base is better financially. It could mean a better house. There is a built-in community. Closer to work or school. However, with all the negativity we hear about on-base housing, it might push families to look elsewhere.

So, they look for off-base options. Which could also mean more house. Possibly better schools. Shorter commute to work for the spouse. But it usually costs more.

Whichever choice you make, you will hear the good, the bad, and the ugly. I’d like to hear what your “why” was in choosing on- or off-base housing. I’ll share mine in the comments below.

Family Matters Friday with Carey Crance, AFSA Family Matters Trustee | Childcare, it’s been a hot topic for a long time. Waitlists run for weeks, months, maybe even a year. For a long time, there haven't been enough providers to run base facilities. There are multiple issues that the base CDCs face.

Please check out the information below. Share your experiences with on- and off-base childcare providers.

Bill Introduced to Provide Expanded Childcare Options on Military Bases. The Website of Sen. Lankford informs us, “US Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Jacky Rosen (D-NV) recently introduced a bipartisan bill to expand access to child care on military bases for service members and their families. The Best Practices for Military Child Care Homes Act would direct the Department of War (DoW) to develop a best practices guide for military families hoping to establish a home-based certified child care center. Military families continue to experience child care shortages across installations. Family Child Care (FCC) homes are an important tool for expanding available child care capacity at installations and increasing opportunities for military spouse employment, but prospective providers often face unnecessary barriers when attempting to start an FCC home program. This bill would streamline the process and improve access to information, making it easier to establish and operate on-base child care centers to meet the growing demand for reliable, flexible child care.”
