Thank you, YFEC interns! 💛

This summer, Yellow Farmhouse hosted 20 high school interns from across Connecticut and Rhode Island. These amazing students helped assist our on-site youth programming and worked alongside farmers to w**d, prune, and harvest fresh summer produce! They also learned the various principles of regenerative agriculture, how to cook and preserve the harvest, and explored the complexities of our food system during three experiential workshops.

They are leaving their internship program with the skills and knowledge to make their own food choices, with some of them exploring careers in sustainable agriculture and the culinary industry! 🧑🏽‍🌾☀️🍅🐓💫

Summer is when Yellow Farmhouse Education Center comes alive. It’s our busiest season of the year: a time when kids are getting their hands in the soil, families are gathering around food, the farm is flourishing, and our community is coming together to learn, cook, explore, and connect.

Behind the scenes, we’re also planning fall curriculum, preparing for school field trips, meeting with partners, and creating the programs that carry our mission forward all year long.
