Learn in nature, from nature in The Folk School!

Each week, children and their grownups dive into a seasonal nature-based topic ✨🌎🍃☀️🐸 Through storytelling, hands-on projects, nature studies, and exploration, children & their grownups connect with the natural world.

Siblings of varying ages may attend together. Younger and older siblings are welcome!

DAYS & AGES:

Seedlings (for ages 0 - 3 with a caregiver) 🌰 Mondays 9AM to 12PM

Sprouts (for ages 3 - 6 with a caregiver) 🌱 Wednesdays 9AM to 12PM

Saplings (for all ages with a caregiver) 🪴 Tuesdays 10AM to 1PM OR Thursdays 10AM to 1PM

Week 3: Life in the Meadow 🏞️
Week 4: Life in the Pond 🪷

Delight in the delicate beauty of summer’s happiest flowers! 💐✨✂️

Spots are limited! Under the expert guidance of paper artist Debra Wood, learn techniques for cutting, shaping, and shading to transform delicate crepe paper into a bouquet of cosmos and daisies, including lavender ferns & stalks.

This hands-on morning is perfect for crafters of all levels who appreciate both the art of making and the art of gathering! All materials will be included.

New adventures await in Young Cooks & Farmers!

Our summer program invites children ages 6 to 13 to Yellow Farmhouse at Stone Acres Farm, where they can experience regenerative farming and seasonal cooking. Spend the morning in the fields and greenhouses, then in the kitchen preparing nutritious and delicious food.

It’s summer the way it’s meant to be - fun, flavorful, and full of discovery! 🌻👩‍🍳🌿

Mondays through Thursdays every week from June 22 to August 31; 9:30AM - 12:30PM! Weekly themes include:

Week One: Berry Madness from June 22 to 25 🫐
Week Two: Batter Up from June 29 to July 2 🧇
Week Three: Saucy Situations from July 6 to 9 🫕
Week Four: Cheese Please from July 13 to 16 🧀
Week Five: Pizza Party from July 20 to 23 🍕
Week Six: Wrap It Up from July 27 to 30 🌯
Week Seven: Build a Bowl from August 3 to 6 🥙
Week Eight: On a Stick from August 10 to 13 🍡
Week Nine: Snack Attack from August 17 to 20 🍪

Journey through the wide world of Bourbon in our hands-on cocktail class this Thursday! 🍹

Join acclaimed mixologist Chef Anthony Caporale on Thursday, June 18 - just before Father’s Day! 💛

Participants will begin by exploring Bourbon’s defining flavors, caramel, vanilla, toasted wood, then discover how delicate garden ingredients can transform classic cocktails into extraordinary elixirs 🌾✨🥃

Using a selection of fine spirits provided by Spencer & Lynn Wine and Spirit Merchants, learn to make a Classic Mint Julep with Farm-Harvested Mint, a Fresh Lemon Balm Bourbon Sour, and a Lilac-Infused Bourbon Old Fashioned.

Our kids summer programming begins in just ONE WEEK! 🥳

Don’t miss these exciting weekly themes in our Young Cooks & Farmers program for 6 to 13 years old, and The Folk School for 0 to 10 years old with a caregiver. Read below for more information!

🧑🏽‍🍳🚜💐 Young Cooks & Farmers: Our drop-off summer program invites children ages 6 to 13 to Yellow Farmhouse at Stone Acres Farm, where they can experience regenerative farming + seasonal cooking. Spend the morning in the fields and greenhouses, then in the kitchen preparing nutritious and delicious food.

$50 / day from 9:30AM to 12:30PM | June 22 to August 31, with different themes every week!

🐓🌾☀️ The Folk School: Each week, children ages 0 to 10 + their grownups dive into a seasonal nature-based topic. Through storytelling, hands-on projects, nature studies, and exploration, children and their grownups learn about and connect with the natural world.

$300 / 10-week session or $50 / individual session | June 29 to August 31 | Younger and older siblings are welcome!

Last Friday, we had over 80 students visit Yellow Farmhouse from Regional Multicultural Magnet School in New London for a sunny field trip! ☀️

2nd graders learned about our chickens and their behaviors, parts of a plant, vermicomposting (using worms to break down food waste!), and flower anatomy & pollinators 🐝🌾🐓 A special shout-out to our new seasonal educators for such a welcoming day on the farm!
