๐ŸŒŠ This year, Restore the Delta is proud to announce that our 20 Years of Turning the Tide Benefit will be hosted The Willow Ballroom & Event Center in Hood, CA!

Hood has always been a crucial part of the Delta, shaped by agriculture, waterways, and generations of Delta families. So when it came time to choose where to celebrate Restore the Deltaโ€™s 20th anniversary, we knew the perfect location to reflect the communities we serve right here in the Delta.

Today, Restore the Delta released a new report detailing one of the many local solutions recently outlined in the Water Renaissance Plan: rice farming in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.

With support from BEAM Circular, the report lays out the environmental and economic benefits of rice farming. As listed in the Water Renaissance Plan, this is part of a broader approach to water and land management that is sustainable and more affordable for all.

Last week, a coalition of environmental, Tribal, and fishing organizations called for a โ€œWater Renaissanceโ€ focused on local water solutions like stormwater capture, water recycling, and groundwater cleanup.

Supporters say these investments would provide more reliable water at a fraction of the cost of the proposed Delta Tunnel project, which could cost up to $100 billion.

The Water Renaissance Plan continues to gain momentum, with about 20 additional organizations endorsing a more sustainable and affordable approach to California water management.

The Water Renaissance Plan would reduce reliance on imported water and costly projects like the Delta Tunnel, and invest in resilient local supplies that protect both people and the places we call home.

โœ… Mormon Slough Restoration Project = Community Led and Community Built!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out and joined us for our first Community Design and Visioning Meeting! Community members came out and spent their day participating in discussions about their ideas, priorities, and concerns for the six-mile slough.

Alongside the San Francisco Estuary Institute / Aquatic Science Center and other community leaders, we created a safe space for productive conversation and idea sharing. Stay tuned for more information on our upcoming meeting on July 25! ๐Ÿ‘€
