Jonesboro Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc

Jonesboro Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University.

Delta Sigma Theta (ΔΣΘ) is a non-profit Greek-lettered sorority of college-educated women who perform public service and place emphasis on the African American
community. These students wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence and to provide assistance to persons in need. The first public act performed by the Delta Founders involved their participation in the Women's

Suffrage March in Washington D.C., March 1913. The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization’s Five Point
Programmatic Thrust:
Economic Development
Education Development
International Awareness and Involvement
Physical and Mental Health
Political Awareness and Involvement

🏛️ WHY LOCAL ELECTIONS MATTER

Did you know that many of the decisions affecting your everyday life are made at the local level?

From schools and public safety to roads, parks, and community development, local elected officials make decisions that directly impact our neighborhoods.

Local elections often determine how tax dollars are spent, what services are provided, and how our communities grow and thrive.

By staying informed and participating in local elections, you help shape the future of your community.

Every vote matters. Every election matters.

💚 Did you know May was Mental Health Awareness Month? Make the commitment beyond May to:

Check in with yourself.
Reach out to someone you trust.
Have the conversation.
Ask for help if you need it.

One conversation can shape the future, and healing was never meant to happen alone.

Your mental health matters too. 💚

Thank you Mark Holden, RN for educating us on stroke prevention.

🧠 May is Stroke Awareness Month 🧠

Every second counts when it comes to recognizing the signs of a stroke. Quick action can save a life and reduce long-term disability. Learn the warning signs and remember the acronym **BE FAST**:

🔹 **B** – Balance: Sudden loss of balance or coordination
🔹 **E** – Eyes: Sudden vision changes or blurred vision
🔹 **F** – Face: One side of the face drooping
🔹 **A** – Arms: Weakness or numbness in one arm
🔹 **S** – Speech: Slurred speech or difficulty speaking
🔹 **T** – Time: Call 911 immediately if symptoms appear

Stroke can happen to anyone, at any age. Awareness, prevention, and early intervention save lives. Encourage your loved ones to know the signs, manage blood pressure, stay active, eat healthy, and attend regular health screenings.

❤️ Together, we can raise awareness and help protect our communities.

Motherhood is a journey where the days feel long and the years are short, yet the love poured into each moment leaves an imprint that lasts a lifetime.

Today we honor our beautiful mothers — those who guide our steps, watch ahead for danger, and pour themselves into others without hesitation. From mothers by birth to grandmothers, godmothers, and every mother figure who stands in the gap, your love is the foundation upon which we stand.

We also hold space for our sisters experiencing the complexity of joy and grief on this day. For those navigating their own experience of becoming a mother, and those missing the presence of theirs — we see you, we are you, and we love you.

To every woman who has ever loved like a mother: your journey has paved the path we walk today. Anchored in the legacy you have built and evolving with the intention you have modeled, we carry you with us in every step forward. Happy Mother's Day!
