Urgent needs this week include peanut butter, cereal, and small size containers of flour, sugar, and vegetable oil. (Many of our community members walk to and from the food pantry.) We are grateful for your continuing donations of food and money.

See interesting article about food banks paying added costs for fuel instead of purchasing food for people.

The organizations that feed millions were already dealing with cuts, inflation and more people seeking help. Now the war in Iran is forcing groups to make hard choices.

Just on time delivery of garden produce from Saint Louis University's garden. In the summer months, the garden is home to a culinary camp where children learn about planting, harvesting and preparing food from the garden. Nutrition and dietetic students run the camp with help from occupational and physical therapy students, who aid any campers with disabilities.

Black churches are transforming food ministry into a broader movement around justice, health and community power — responding to disproportionately high hunger rates in Black America with solutions rooted in faith and self-determination.

Churches long known for feeding the hungry are now challenging the systems, like food deserts, driving Black food insecurity.

The monthly clothing distribution took place this week on Tuesday (indoors) and Thursday (parking lot). A special thank you to the good folks at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Ladue for collecting gently used items this past month and sharing so generously with TFM community members. One lady remarked that she selected four items. All were grateful.

In addition we received a large donation of blankets that will be stored until fall.

Last week the food pantry serviced 210 individuals in 77 households, 8 of them new. This is a 30% increase over the last two weeks. We expect to serve 10,000 individuals this year, which is on par with pre-tornado numbers.

Adam Turner (pictured on the right) has been a steady presence this past year volunteering with the Sunday Hot Lunch, picking up donations from Whole Foods, sorting and storing clothing donations, etc. Adam will be scaling back his hours due to his Christian Leadership classwork at Eden Seminary this summer. We are grateful for his continued presence and look forward to seeing him around as time permits.

Please join us on Friday and Saturday to remember our beloved Deacon Barbi.

For Friday, we will gather in the South Parish Hall (home of the Trinity Food Ministry); doors will open at 5pm with prayers led by Fr. Paul at 6pm.

Also, on Friday, you are invited to bring a single flower to help decorate Barbi's memorial table.

For Saturday's events at Christ Church Cathedral (downtown), please consider arriving early as we expect the cathedral to be full.

May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed through the tender mercy of God rest in peace, and may light perpetual shine upon them.
