Joseph & E’Lise Heflin welcomed baby Joiner in June of 2022 . When he was 7 weeks old they were life-flighted to St Louis Children’s Hospital.

He was diagnosed with Infantile Hemispheric Glioma a rare form of brain cancer. Continue to pray and donate.

We are still at Saint Louis Children's Hospital addressing Joiner's ongoing tummy issues. He is scheduled for a procedure this afternoon, and we expect his discharge to follow. Joiner's family, including Momma, Daddy, Jemma, Rie Rie, and Pop Pop, are excited about his upcoming release and grateful for the prayers and concerns everyone has shown. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts, especially this afternoon, as we hope to return home this evening.

Headed up to St. Louis today. Joiner should be having surgery tomorrow morning around 8:30. Here are our prayer requests again -

Specific prayer request include:

- Wisdom, clear minds and support for all physicians and medical staff involved in Joiner’s surgery and care.
- Smooth and successful surgery for Joiner with positive recovery.
- Stress and anxiety is alleviated for family as much as possible.
- Joiner’s neurological functions improve post surgery.
- Pathology report is positive.

Hello. I ( E'Lise Hall Heflin ) want to start by saying thank you to everyone who has prayed, supported and encouraged myself, Joseph Heflin and our family. I will never be able to fully express the gratitude I have for all of you.

A quick update in case you missed it. Joiner is scheduled to have brain surgery on February 11th . This surgery is being described by his medical team as a invasive biopsy. They will be removing an area that on his MRIs is questionable. They aren’t able to definitively say rather the area is cyst or remaining tumor, so it is being removed and sent to pathology so that we can know for sure that he is cancer free. Leading up to the surgery he will have a postoperative MRI on February 6th. Following his surgery Joiner will continue to remain on his oral chemotherapy for 6 months and then hopefully if all reports are positive will wean of his medication and be in remission. 🙌

Due to the extended stay associated with his surgery, and Joseph previously using up all his PTO to be able to attend Joiner’s appointments, our out of pocket expenses are higher than we would like. If you are able to support in any amount financially it would greatly benefit our family during this time. All funds received are going to help pay for cost associated with travel and lodging for this upcoming surgery and follow up medical care for Joiner.

From E'Lise Heflin MRI results are in and Joiner’s tumor is still shrinking!!🙌🏻 The pictures don’t quite do it justice, but the imaging from today still shows visible shrinkage. We of course had to celebrate with Jeni’s ice cream! We are truly so thankful for our team at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Joiner’s medication, and a God this is still healing and performing miracles! ❤️

Joseph Heflin , E'Lise Hall Heflin and Marie Robertson prepare for Joiner's Journey to Saint Louis Children's Hospital and we embark on Joiner's Journey next MRI appointment on July 11th, we kindly request your prayers and positive thoughts. We believe in the power of prayer and the strength it brings during this challenging time. May Joiner's tumor show improvement, and we thank God for the favor in the processing of his insurance application issues, relieving some financial stress. PRAISE REPORT--- TUMOR IS STILL SHRINKING... We had a vision test today as well and he continues to have right sided peripheral vision weakness. Yesterday in addition to the MRI they did a hearing test and he passed with great results including the hearing to brain response test which also went well. The Oncologist is actually using Joiner as a case study this summer in Philadelphia to get other oncologists to study Joiner as well. We are all continually thankful for how well he is doing. Just an update on Joiner otherwise he is full on almost running (jk), he says several words, loves 🫐 and any fruit, 🍝, 🍞, does hi-five, and 💕 loves his B-b-bath 🛁! Please continue to pray for Joiner and thank you so much for the prayers.
