🚨🚨🚨 EMERGENCY TEMP FOSTER NEEDED!🚨🚨🚨

King is in a foster home and his foster has some urgent medical issues that entail her being far away from home and King needs someone who can care for him IMMEDIATELY! for the next 6-8 weeks or so. We do prefer the Houston area but will take a foster anywhere in Texas, if we can work out transportation!


King is a dog/ people friendly pup who is moderately active. He hasn't shown much interest in toys except to shred them and is slightly reactive to loud outside machine noises so stays inside when the mowers and tractors are out.

ADOPTION PUP-DATE!!!

Mor was found with her pups by a person who volunteers with a wildlife rescue and found the family dumped. They reached out to a BCSAVE alum/ rescue angel who reached out to us to see if we could assist and bring the family into the rescue. She offered to foster so of course we said yes!

And now Mor has found her FURever home! We are so happy to see Mor in her own place with her own person! (Now we just have to adopt out the remaining two pups, Cassian and Azriel lol... new posts on them coming soon!)

Congrats to Mor and her new mom!

HAPPY JUNETEENTH!

Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday.

In 1979, Texas became the FIRST state to make Juneteenth an official holiday; several others followed suit over the years. In June 2021, Congress passed a resolution establishing Juneteenth as a federal holiday.

BCSAVE loves to celebrate all holidays, but as a Texas-based rescue, we definitely love to celebrate the ones our great state of Texas started!

ADOPTION PUP-DATE!!!

Around 2 YO and 50 lbs, Lennox was found as a stray on 3/22 w/ an injury to his left rear leg. We discovered his left rear femoral head was luxated (dislocated), a serious injury where the ball of the thigh bone is forced out of its pelvic socket. Our ortho specialist Animal Hospital inserted a "toggle pin" to hold the top of the femur in place. After several weeks of strict crate rest and one of the most amazing foster homes, he was released from activity restriction and has now found his FURever home!

Coming ALL THE WAY from California(!), Lennox's new mom flew in to the DFW area where Lennox was being fostered. Driving back with her daughter, they kept us apprised of their trip and said of Lennox:

"Lennox is an angel! He has been a perfect road companion...Lennox is proving to be the perfect dog! ... Sara and I are truly in love!"

THIS is why we do what we do. To help a dog get out of the shelter, get healthy and healed, and find him a FURever family - this is our mission. And we couldn't do it without ALL of our volunteers, including fantastic fosters who care for their foster pups as if they were one of their own before letting them go. 🥰

THANK YOU to all who contributed to Lennox's surgery and THANK YOU to our BCSAVE family for saving yet another dog.

ADOPTION PUP-DATE!!!

We wanted to give Mindy her OWN adoption post because we're thrilled that she's finally found her FURever home!

Originally joining us in 2019, this 8 year old pup has been through a lot and overcome even more. She was actually adopted or foster-to-adopted THREE previous times, but was always returned because of one quirk or another. However her new dad says this about Mindy:

"I have to tell you about Mindy - she's a wonderful dog and we are starting to bond properly. She is absolutely everything I could ever want from an adopted dog. Yes - she has her quirks, but honestly, they are insignificant...We both have plenty of time....I could not be happier with her - a real gem! She has arrived at her furever home!"

We LOOOOOVE to hear things like this from our adopters, and we are thankful that Mindy found her new dad and vice versa!

🩹🩹 SHORT TERM MEDICAL FOSTERS NEEDED FOR NUGGET! 🩹🩹

Nugget needs a very special medical foster (or two!). Nugget is our blue merle puppy who was hit by a car several weeks ago and taken to the shelter, and whose tail was completely degloved. The shelter amputated the majority of his tail, and we were able to pull him into a foster home about 2 weeks ago.

We thought Nugget was getting better, but after his last vet visit, we determined that he has THREE different antibiotic-resistant bacteria keeping his tail from healing. It's so serious that if we can't get it under control, the infections could result in no more Nugget. 😭😭😭

We have ONE chance to save Nugget if we can get him seen by a specialty surgeon in Austin to see if we can remove the rest of Nugget's nub and hopefully, the infection with it. BUT we need to get him to Austin (from Copperas Cove) this weekend to hang out until he can be seen by the vet on Monday. IF (and it's a big IF) the vet thinks there is enough healthy tail/ tissue left, we then have to schedule Nugget for a second surgery and pretty intensive follow-up care.

WHAT WE NEED:

🚨PRIORITY 1.🚨 Someone in Austin who can keep Nugget starting Sunday and take him the vet in N. Austin on Monday. THEN...

🚨PRIORITY 2.🚨 If Nugget can have surgery, someone who can
a) Keep other pets from getting the infection (a pet free home or one where you can keep Nugget separated would work good)
b) Take Nugget back for regular visits to the vet
c) Possibly do things like keeping the tail clean, maybe bandage changes, and maybe topical/ oral meds.

It's a big ask - we know. But we want to give Nugget every chance to make it through this and the only way we can do it is with some help.

ACOTAR FANS!!!!

Azriel and Cassian (brothers) are looking for their FURever home!
These two warriors were found with mom Mor and sister Nesta. About 18 weeks old now, the Bat Boys are ready to spread their wings and go on new adventures with a new family!

Cassian (white on the nose, currently fostered in San Antonio) is very much like him namesake - confident yet playful and smart as a whip. But as much as he enjoys his brother and friends, at the end of the day, his loyalty lies with his people.

Azriel (no mask, currently fostered in Spring) is also much like his namesake. He is also playful, but prefers to be your shadow more so than his brother. Azriel is also very affectionate and loves to give kisses and snuggles to everyone around him.
