Auditions for 'Laramie Project' will be Sept. 9, 11
Springfield Civic Theatre will hold auditions for “The Laramie Project” from 6-8:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, with callbacks at the same time Friday, Sept. 11 in the second floor of the John Bryan Center, 100 Dayton St., Yellow Springs.
Please arrive promptly for the start of auditions to hear a briefing about the approach to the script and to join in some group work. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Familiarity either with the script or the events surrounding the murder of Matthew Shepard in 1998 is highly recommended, but not a requirement.
Please bring a photo and résumé, if you have one, along with a list of existing conflicts during the rehearsal period of September through early November. The play will be performed Nov. 12-14 in the John Legend Theater. Rehearsals will begin mid-September in the evenings.
“The Laramie Project” was created from hundreds of interviews with residents of Laramie, Wyoming, in the aftermath of the beating death of Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old gay man. A breathtaking theatrical collage, “The Laramie Project” explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable.
For questions or conflicts with audition attendance contact the director, Lorrie Sparrow-Knapp, via Facebook or leave a message at the contact page of the Civic Theatre website.
