Prevention is widely recognized as an effective, efficient, and economically sound approach because it stops complications before they start, maximizes limited resources, and delivers a massive return on investment.

Preventing child abuse and neglect means meeting parents exactly where they are while also putting the health and safety of children first. Prevention makes keeping children and families together—safely—the top priority in any child welfare system.

There is a common misconception that child welfare intervention is primarily about the most extreme and heartbreaking cases that make headlines. Those cases do require immediate action. But the reality is that many families who come to the attention of child welfare—and drive up unmanageable caseload numbers—are facing challenges that could have been addressed much earlier with the right supports in place: a parent overwhelmed by circumstances, a family without stable housing or child care, a medical emergency, or a caregiver without anyone to call for help.

But we have also witnessed the opposite: when families receive timely support—safe child care during moments of crisis, access to basic necessities, connection to resources, and ongoing community-based support—the outcome changes drastically. Families stabilize. Parents gain confidence and tools. Children remain safely connected to the people who love them, and the child welfare system has no reason to get involved.

This is why we exist. Children Safe. Families Together.

There are families in our community who need someone willing to step up and offer a safe, loving, temporary home for their children while they work through difficult seasons.

You may not be available to host today, but what about tomorrow? We never know what tomorrow may bring or when God may place an opportunity on our hearts to serve.

If you’ve ever considered becoming a Host Family, I encourage you to start the process now. Learn more, get connected, and be prepared when that call comes.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Safe Families for Children (SFFC) stands alongside survivors. Our mission is to keep children safe and surround families facing crisis with a supportive community.

By offering a safe, temporary home for children and a network of extended family-like support for parents, we give moms and dads the breathing room they need to seek help, find safety, and rebuild their lives.

Happy Friday, family ❤️

This morning, as I sit here spending time in His Word, I find myself going back to the beginning back to God’s original design and being reminded that we were never created to do life alone. We were created for relationship. For community. To walk alongside one another. To help carry one another through the hard seasons.

And then my phone rings.

Right now, we have a need for a Host Family for 7 and 3year-old little boys.

Their mom is making a courageous decision...SHE is checking herself into rehab to get the help she needs.

Read that again.

A mom is asking for help so she can be who God created her to be!

This is what Safe Families is here for. This is what the Church is called to do. This is radical hospitality in action.

I’ve been praying for more referrals. And when I say that, I’m not praying for more families to experience crisis. I’m praying that the families who are already walking through hard seasons will know they do not have to walk through them alone. I’m praying that more moms and dads will have the courage to say, “I need help. "I’m praying they reach out BEFORE a crisis becomes something bigger.

But I’m praying for something else, too.

I’m praying for YOU.

I’m praying for individuals and families who will say, “For such a time as this, I will step up.”

Someone who will open their home temporarily so a FAMILY can get the help they need!

Someone who will become a Family Friend and walk alongside a parent.

Someone who will provide a meal, a resource, encouragement, prayer, or simply remind another family, “You are not alone.”

This is temporary support that can have a lifelong impact. A safe, loving family stepping in during a difficult season can help keep a child safely connected to their family and, when possible, prevent unnecessary entry into foster care.

The time is NOW, guys. We need people. We need families. We need the Church.

And if you can't host, that's okay. There is still a place for you in this work.

Will you stand in prayer with me? And then ask God, “Is there a place for me in this?”

Happy Sunday!!!🤗

More families are reaching out. More referrals are coming in. Parents are calling because they need encouragement, connection, practical support, a Family Friend, or sometimes a safe place for their children during a difficult season.

That is a blessing, because it means families are finding the support they need, and I truly believe God is using the relationships and connections being built to make that happen.

“The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few.” Matthew 9:37 KJV

That verse feels so fitting for where we are right now.

The harvest is coming in, and with that comes a greater need for people who are willing to step in and serve.

Maybe this isn’t your season to become a Host Family. That’s okay. One of our greatest needs right now is Family Friends!!! people willing to check in with a parent, grab a cup of coffee, offer encouragement, walk alongside them, and remind them they’re not alone.

Maybe you can serve as a Resource Friend. Maybe your church would welcome us to come share about Safe Families. Maybe you know someone who has been looking for a meaningful way to serve.

There is room for everyone to be part of this work.

The seeds have been planted. The harvest is beginning. Now we need the laborers. ❤️
