Good Afternoon. Thank you to those who came out to one of our cemetery honors or to the main program at the Veterans Memorial. Special thanks to the Springfield Times for live streaming the main program this year.

Memorial Day is not the time to thank a living Veterans, rather it is for us to remember and honor those who are only with us in spirit. Of those we give special thoughts to today are the men and women who left our Springfield Community to serve their country and ultimately gave their last full measure of devotion to their country before they could return home.

Today is Memorial Day. Flags are half-staff until noon, then to full staff. Please join Post 132 and Auxiliary at one of our communities cemeteries this morning as honor our deceased. The community Memorial Day program is at 11:00 am at the Springfield Veterans Memorial. Bring a lawn chair. See the attached program for locations and times.

The American Legion Preamble is now hanging on the wall in the post meeting room at the Springfield Community Services Center. Thanks to Adam for the wood and working with Mike Durfee State Prison for building the plaque. And a big Post 132 Thank You to Leonard Magee and Cliff Aase for hanging the plaque in the Community Center.

Good Afternoon Springfield! The Springfield Community is invited to our Memorial Day activities to honor our fallen service-members. Please see the schedule below. We enjoy seeing family members at the cemeteries for the cemetery programs, which include the reading of names of those Veterans buried in that cemetery. Bring lawn chairs for the Main Service at the Springfield Veterans Memorial at Terrace Park.

The Community is invited to assist in placing flags on Veteran headstones at the Springfield Cemetery at 6:30pm, Friday, May 22, 2026.

Reminder, Post 132 May meeting is moved to tomorrow, Tuesday, 12 May 2026 at 1900 hours. This is the preparation meeting for the Memorial Day program and initial golf tournament review.

Post 132 is having our annual flag disposal ceremony at Springfield Elementary School with the help our elementary students.

Change the date! The next Regular Meeting of Post 132 is coming up on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. This is the preparation for the Memorial Day activities meeting. We we will start work for the golf tournament.

Post 132 members, the flag retirement ceremony is tomorrow! May 5, 2026 at the Springfield Elementary School. Those that can help please meet in the parking lot by 1345 hours. We have a lot of flags to retire with the help of the students.
Uniform is casual/work with ball or uniform caps.
