SSN Food Distribution Program

SSN Food Distribution Program The Santee Sioux Food Distribution Program provides USDA foods to income-eligible households living on the Santee Sioux reservation. What is the FDPIR Program?

The Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) provides fresh produce, meats and canned goods to income-eligible households living on the reservation. In comparison to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the FDPIR offers more monetary assistance so you can have healthier and more plentiful meals at home. How to Apply for Benefits:
To receive benefits from the Santee

Sioux Food Distribution Program you will need to fill out an application and bring the following items with you:
Social Security Number for each household member. Tribal / State ID
3 Weekly pay stubs
OR
2 Bi-weekly pay stubs
OR
1 Monthly Statement
OR
Zero Income Form

Earned Income Deduction:
Households are able to deduct 20% of their monthly earned income to increase eligibility chance. Dependent Care Deduction:
Households are able to deduct the amount of dependent care costs paid monthly to a non-household member. Child Support Deduction:
Households are able to deduct the amount of required child support provided to a child in your household or the amount of child support sent to a non-household member. Medical Expense Deduction:
Households who pay more than $35/month for an elderly/disabled household member may deduct the total amount spent. Utility/Shelter Deduction:
Households that incur at least one monthly shelter or utility expense are allowed to deduct $500. Home Care Deduction:
Households that provide a majority of meals for a home care attendant are allowed to deduct $250. Still not sure if you qualify? Any person or household living on the reservation can receive food distribution benefits as long as they meet income guidelines and are not receiving SNAP. Those living off the reservation, within Knox County, NE, may still qualify but must provide proof they are enrolled in a federally recognized tribe. Those living in towns of Crofton, Niobrara, Center, Bloomfield, Wausa, Verdigre, and Creighton may be eligible as long as one person in their home has proof that they are enrolled in a federally recognized native tribe. If a Native American household is all elderly they can receive a 24 month certification when applying. If you or someone in your home receive Social Security benefits you are eligible for 12 month certification. Please note - You cannot receive SNAP and Food Distribution benefits in the same month or risk being disqualified from both programs.

Good afternoon everyone, I just want to address something I saw today on Facebook. For one, please please bare with us as this week has been insanely busy. We are doing our best to serve everyone and not turn anyone away due to last weeks closing and Memorial Day holiday.

We’ve address this before but the reason for signing your paper when you receive your order is you are AGREEING that you received everything on your order list. Once that is signed, we then “complete” the order in our system. Once it’s completed we cannot change anything on your order. This is why it’s important to check your items before you sign.

Also, we are without our delivery truck right now. We cannot drive it due to the windshield damage. Not only is that against the law, but it is also putting our employees at risk for injury. So for now all orders are to be picked up at our building.

Having others sign for your order has been causing a lot of confusion. The paper gets signed, order gets completed and then days later we’re told the order was not correct. There is unfortunately nothing we can do about it.

THIS IS WHY IT IS IMPORTANT FOR OUR CLIENT TO CHECK THEIR ORDER THEMSELVES AND MAKE SURE ITS CORRECT!

If you check your order and see something is wrong, address it right away so that we can correct it. Messaging one of the employees on Facebook isn’t always the best way to get ahold of us. Like I said this week has been busy and we can’t check our phones immediately when we get a message. Please call or stop by! We are human and make errors but we need to be properly informed of the errors so that we can correct them.

If you read this far, thank you for taking the time to do so and I hope this helps clear up some confusion.

Have a great day!!
