The Lion Pride at Blackshear Elementary in is roaring with reading commitment inspired by 's literacy program.

CYCLE engages 2nd-grade students in Title I schools, helping them set goals and rewarding them with brand-new bicycles and helmets when they reach their reading and behavioral goals.

This semester-long commitment instills lessons and values that poise Blackshear Lion Cubs for a lifetime of roaring success!

Big things are happening in Title I schools, and CYCLE Houston is ready to ride right alongside our students, parents, and educators.

We’re teaming up to close literacy gaps and boost positive behavior among 2nd grade students through our Earn‑A‑Bike program, where hard work turns into real momentum.

Pep rallies are around the corner, bike contracts are about to be signed, and excitement is building fast as students commit to stronger reading skills and positive conduct, with a brand‑new bike and helmet waiting at the finish line.

CYCLE Houston is rolling across the region, building strong partnerships, brand-new bicycles, and bright minds through our 2nd-grade literacy improvement initiative in Title I schools.

This year we’re honored to support students across Aldine ISD, Alief Independent School District, Conroe Independent School District, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Goose Creek CISD, , Humble Independent School District, Klein ISD, Nativity Academy of Houston, Pasadena Independent School District, Spring Branch Independent School District, SpringISD, and Texas City ISD as they begin a new year of learning, growth, goal setting, and achievement.

Every campus, every classroom, every student represents another mile toward our mission: motivating students to achieve academic success through earned bicycles and goal-driven learning. Let’s make this year one to celebrate!

A new school year means new goals. CYCLE Houston’s Earn a Bike Contract gets students, parents, and teachers in gear to achieve them.

will kick off the year with high-energy Earn a Bike pep rallies, where students learn how they can earn a brand new bicycle and helmet through hard work, positive behavior, and strong literacy growth.

After the rallies, students sign their Earn a Bike Contract, promising to “improve my literacy level according to my ability that is set by my teacher” and maintain E or S conduct grades throughout the semester. Parents sign too, showing their support and partnering with teachers to help track reading progress and celebrate every milestone.

When students meet or exceed their goals by November, they earn a new bicycle and helmet delivered in December!

At CYCLE, the bike is more than a reward. It’s a symbol of perseverance, teamwork, and the incredible impact of students, families, and educators working together.
