Join us for a timely conversation with Sharing Our Roots' executive director, Derek Meyers, focused on farmer safety, community care, and resilience under increasing ICE threats. Derek will share firsthand experiences supporting farmers and gardeners navigating fear, uncertainty, and heightened enforcement pressures, while reflecting on the realities facing immigrant and historically targeted communities within local food systems.

Grounded in relationship-building, the discussion will explore how Sharing Our Roots -- Marbleseed's 2026 Changemakers of the Year -- has collaborated to build responsive networks of care. From resource-sharing to long-term trust-building strategies, participants will hear how support systems have evolved as community needs, political conditions, and safety concerns continue to shift. What a beautiful evening!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for GROWN HERE: Marbleseed’s Farm-to-Table Fundraiser at Seven Acre Dairy Company.

Together, we celebrated the farmers, chefs, makers, and community members helping build a more resilient Midwest food system rooted in organic agriculture, stewardship, and connection.

From the incredible farmer–chef collaborations and thoughtfully crafted seasonal menu to the conversations shared across the table, this evening was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we invest in relationships between land, food, and community.

We’re deeply grateful to our chefs, farmer partners, beverage sponsors, musicians, volunteers, donors, and guests for making this gathering so meaningful.

And most importantly, thank you for supporting Marbleseed’s work to educate, inspire, empower, and advocate for organic farmers across the Midwest.

Ying Lo didn’t plan on becoming a farmer.

But through illness, uncertainty, and a small plot of garlic, she found something unexpected — healing, purpose, and a deep connection to land and community.

In just a few years, Ying has grown from a reluctant grower into the lead farmer of GreenGold Gardens — building relationships with markets, feeding her community, and embracing organic practices rooted in personal experience.

Her story is a powerful reminder that sometimes the path finds you — and that farming is as much about resilience and relationships as it is about what we grow.

Read Ying’s story in the latest issue of the Organic Broadcaster.
