On this day, May 10th, 1934, the youngest Wilder sibling passed away while living in Louisiana.

Perley Day Wilder wasn’t mentioned in the book Farmer Boy, or in any part of the series, as he had not been born at the time the fictional story takes place.

Only roughly one year after Perley’s birth near Malone, New York, the Wilder family made the decision to sell their prosperous farm and make the move to Spring Valley, Minnesota. Some members of the Wilder family stayed on the New York farm for a time, but by the spring of 1872, at least James and Angeline, along with children Perley and Almanzo were living in Spring Valley.

After having spent his childhood in Spring Valley, Perley eventually finds himself traveling “downstream” on a sailing expedition that positions himself as an eventual resident of the south; he ends up marrying there and staying permanently in Louisiana until his passing on May 10th, 1934.

This summer Coach Erik Dahl brings Sportstastic Camp to Good Earth Village. Your camper will spend the week building skills, learning teamwork, and growing in faith through friendly competition and outdoor play. Open to grades 3 through 6.

Coach Erik’s soccer resume includes playing Varsity Soccer for 2 years at Madison West High School and 4 years in college at the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse Club Soccer. Erik has coached at Millennium Soccer Club in Madison, WI and is currently a coach for the La Crosse Logan High School soccer team.
