Anna was an angel and now she will be one forever. This precious princess - white as the snow - arrived in a frozen hard shell of fear and insecurity. She had survived her flight from the island of St. Thomas all the way here to be reunited with her mother - Elsa - already with us - loving us completely but still incomplete without her partner in life. Their hard life together on the island trying to survive life on the streets and then shelter life and failed foster homes finally lead to their hopeful rescue to us here. Unfortunately, their mental and spiritual wounds were not the only ones they carried in their luggage. Both of these beautiful girls had heart worm infections that had gone mostly neglected in their time on the island. We knew we had this hurdle to leap with them - but figured it was curable with the right treatment. Unfortunately, due to the severity of Anna’s infection and the damage that had been done to her heart and her liver - sweet Anna did not survive even initial antibiotic and steroid treatment to prepare for her injection. Her liver was inoperable and her heart was struggling and any surgery would likely have killed her on the table. This awful disease had ended her chances of a cure before we ever met her. We never had a chance. With no options left, Anna was relieved of all of her discomfort and pain and fell asleep peacefully in Eric’s arms. Absolutely crushed by this loss we can only worship that carefree time we spent together - all together running free in the fields and snuggling in our cabin - one loving happy family …for awhile. Fly on ahead Anna - chasing rabbits forever in the ether - held close by the Pack we’ve lost before you. We Love you Anna ❤️
