"In a time when so many veterans are so hesitant to take another prescription or fear getting addicted to opioids, equine assisted therapy gets veterans outside and allows them the amazing opportunity to work with horses to process their experiences,” said Congressman Barr. “As the Chairman of the Congressional Horse Caucus and someone who cares very deeply for our veterans, I believe increasing grant funding opportunities for evidence-based equine-assisted therapy and innovative therapies will greatly diversify the treatment options available to our veterans.”

In the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, Congressman Andy Barr's (R-KY) amendment to the IMPROVE Act was adopted on a bipartisan basis with a vote of 26-0. Rep. Barr's amendment added equine assisted therapy, adaptive sports, and innovative approaches to the list of services which community orga...

Heres an update on Bob! He has been diagnosed with SEVERE ring bone. Since we rescued him a year ago, he has always been lame. Our original vet said it was hoof sore, but after 6 months we didnt agree that was it any longer. After his diagnosis, we completed a series of 3 injections of everclear alcohol into his joint, which will cause fusion of the bone and make hin more comfortable. He will never be able to be ridden, but between the injections and an anti inflammatory he is on for the rest of his life, his remaining days will at least be comfortable.

It has been a long time since I have posted here, too long in fact. We have experienced some significant changes here at the farm between this pandemic, my pregnancy, and my recent melanoma diagnosis. It has been tough here. After much thinking, we have decided to continue to move forward with our veteran program come the spring time. Our whole dream had to be abruptly stopped due to this virus and we were so disappointed. We aren't quitters. We would like to thank you for continuing to care about these horses as much as we do. Here is Henry's latest photo!

I havent posted in a while, and.for that I apologize. This virus has really knocked.out any and all plans that I had for having veterans, or anyone for that matter, to the farm to work with the horses. That being said, all plans for the program are on hold until we can ride this mess out. Horses are doing great, and Moe and Ed are sound enough to be lightly ridden. Say a prayer that this mess ends soon, and thank you all for caring 💗

Looking forward to getting Bob his fusion procedure done so he can be more comfortable. Poor guy :(

Our veterans community garden is thriving. I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed that we havent been able to open to the public so far this year as we had planned. That being said, I have been so extremely busy with the garden, sheep, and horses that keeping up in this page has been somewhat difficult, but I'm trying my best ❤
