Great news!! Save those quarters!!

🎉 Monumental news! The Women’s Suffrage National Monument now has a permanent home at 19th St and Constitution Ave N.W., right in Constitution Gardens in the heart of the National Mall.

It is the perfect site for a monument that will inspire generations by honoring the accomplishments of the women who fought for their right to vote. 💜

Unfortunately we are having to postpone the duck race on Saturday, November 1st. Stay tuned for a new date soon. We apologize for any inconvience. But hopefully your duck will get in a little more practice in before the race!!

Good afternoon. This is Ginger Harper with the Southport Womans Club annual Duck Race which was supposed to be held tomorrow from 1130 until about two. We’ve been informed that it’s going to be bad weather with wind gusts up to 25 miles an hour and 100% in rain. Therefore, we are postponing the Duck Race until Saturday and the time will be according to the tide. Stay tuned for more information.

It’s a beautiful day in Southport….come out to the car show and we are out selling tickets for our annual breast cancer fundraiser. This year we are donating to Dosher Memorial for the mammogram machine We are set up at 105 E Bay street come see us. Ducks are $20 each!!

We are sad to announce that our domestic violence symposium scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, September 17th has been postpone due to storm preparations. Stay tuned for a rescheduled date. Hope everyone stays safe and our impacts from the storm are minimal.

Domestic violence is a bit different for older victims. They are also victims all too often. Providers should take into consideration what is appropriate for older victims. Victim centered approaches that take into account their need for confidentiality, privacy, and autonomy. This also means providers should take into account the impact of standard practice on older victims regarding confidentiality, privacy and autonomy.
