BIKING FOR SURVIVORS! There are certain moments where you realize the conversations you’re having are truly moving things from the darkness into the light! And, this feels like one of those moments for us at On the Wings of Angels!

We are deeply honored to share that we were asked to be a part of an incredibly meaningful statewide initiative with orsa foundation and Laura Killingbeck.

Laura, A Traveler/Biker/Adventurer/Writer/Story Teller, will ride from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, all the way to Detroit, to raise awareness and support for survivors of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and economic abuse throughout our state.

Along the way, she will be meeting with survivors, organizations, and communities to have honest conversations about what survival, healing, and rebuilding truly look like.

I had the opportunity to spend time speaking with Laura for an in-depth interview, sharing not only my own story, but also the realities so many survivors face behind the scenes.

She will be creating articles, blog posts, and storytelling pieces from these conversations to help bring greater understanding and visibility to these issues.

What moved me most is that this project focuses on action.

Through the Choose The Bear Fund™, powered by orsa Credit Union, net proceeds will go directly toward strengthening the ecosystem of support services for survivors across Michigan, ensuring organizations on the front lines can continue helping survivors access safety, stability, resources, community, and hope.

We also want to sincerely thank orsa Foundation for leading this charge and using your platform, resources, and voice to help create real change for survivors across Michigan.

It takes courage and intentionality to invest in conversations that are difficult, painful, and deeply necessary.

We are grateful to stand alongside organizations and leaders who understand that supporting survivors requires action, collaboration, and community.

We are grateful to be included in this mission and grateful to every single person helping move these conversations forward with compassion, courage, and action.🩷💜

MEET THE PANELISTS!! Sarada Duvvuri. Sarada helps people feel seen through the stories they tell. We are so honored to have Sarada joining our panel for our upcoming Mental Health Awareness Event on May 27.

As a producer, keynote speaker, and storyteller, Sarada brings a deeply thoughtful and human perspective to conversations around mental health, healing, identity, and emotional resilience.

Her work centers around the power of storytelling and the truth that when people feel seen, heard, and understood, healing becomes possible.

Sarada understands that so much of what people carry lives beneath the surface. The pain people hide, the pressure they internalize, and the silent emotional battles they fight, while still trying to show up for the world around them.

And for survivors of abuse especially, having spaces where their experiences are understood, not questioned, minimized, or rushed past, matters deeply.

There is something incredibly grounding about the way Sarada approaches conversations around the human experience.

She brings depth, empathy, reflection, and emotional honesty into the room in a way that helps people feel less alone.

Healing often begins the moment someone realizes: “My story matters too.”

Sarada, thank you for bringing your voice, loved experiences, your perspective, and your heart into this conversation. We are so grateful to have you as part of this event.

Join us on May 27 from 11:00am-2:00pm, at Chief Financial Credit Union Event Room, 20 S. Main St., Rochester, MI

Lunch will be served.🩷💜

MEET THE PANELISTS! Molly Lipton. So many people spend their lives believing their worth is tied to their performance. How much they achieve. How productive they are. How much they can carry. How well they can hold it all together.

And, eventually, that pressure catches up emotionally, mentally, and physically.

That’s one of the many reasons we’re so grateful to have Molly Lipton joining our panel for our upcoming Mental Health Awareness Event on May 27.

Molly is a coach and keynote speaker with Level Up Athlete Recruiting, where she works closely with individuals navigating high-pressure environments, identity, expectations, and the emotional weight that often comes with constantly striving to succeed.

What makes Molly’s perspective so powerful is her understanding of what happens when people begin tying their value to achievement, perfectionism, external validation, or constantly needing to prove themselves.

Underneath so many mental health struggles is this deeper question: “Am I enough if I stop performing?”

For survivors of abuse especially, that question can become even more complicated. Abuse often strips people of their confidence, identity, voice, and self-worth. It creates patterns of self-doubt, hypervigilance, people-pleasing, and feeling like love or safety must somehow be earned.

Molly brings such important insight into how people begin rebuilding confidence, reconnecting with themselves, and separating who they are from what they’ve been conditioned to believe about themselves.

Her perspective on mindset, resilience, emotional health, pressure, and identity is going to add so much depth to this conversation. Part of Healing is about rediscovering who you are underneath it all.

Molly, thank you for bringing your wisdom, your voice, and your heart into this space. We are so grateful to have you as part of this event.

Join us on May 27! 11:00am-2:00pm at Chief Financial Credit Union Event Room, 20 S. Main St., Rochester, MI. Lunch will be served.🩷💜

MEET THE PANELISTS! Sonna Johns SonnaLife. Sonna exemplifies true strength and her power is how deeply she sees. She makes others feel safe enough to exhale, open up, and she makes us all feel seen.

We are incredibly honored to have Sonna joining our On the Wings of Angels, 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Panel for our upcoming Mental Health Awareness Event on May 27.

Sonna brings a powerful combination of lived experience, advocacy, leadership, and deep compassion into every space she enters.

She has spent years pouring into others, supporting survivors, strengthening community connection, and showing up for people during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

And, what makes her voice so impactful is that she understands this work beyond theory. She has studied trauma and responses and healing.

She understands what trauma does to a person, the emotional exhaustion people carry behind closed doors, and what it means to survive difficult seasons and still choose to show up for others with empathy and grace.

There is something truly grounding about the way Sonna connects with people. She doesn’t approach healing from a place of perfection. She approaches it from humanity, understanding and truth.

In conversations around mental health, especially for survivors of abuse and the people who love them, that matters deeply.

Survivors need community and people who know how to sit with pain without minimizing it. They need people who understand that healing is complicated, layered, and deeply personal.

Sonna brings that perspective into this conversation in such a meaningful way.

Her ability to lead with compassion while also speaking honestly about struggle, resilience, support systems, and emotional healing is something we know people in that room are going to connect with deeply.

This panel is about creating space for truth, honesty, and connection.

And, Sonna’s voice is an incredibly important part of that.

Sonna, thank you for bringing your heart, wisdom, advocacy, and your lived understanding into this space. We are so grateful to have you as part of this event.

Join us on May 27! 11:00AM-2:00PM, at Chief Financial Credit Union Event Room, 20 S. Main St., Rochester, MI. Lunch will be served.

See you there!🩷💜

MEET THE PANELISTS! There are some people who walk into a room and immediately make others feel stronger, because of the way they live, lead, and pour into others. That's Lissa Pietrykowski!

We are so excited to welcome Lissa as one of our Panelists for our upcoming Mental Health Awareness Month Event on May 27.

As the Owner of Peak Physique Fitness, as well as a speaker and trainer, Lissa has dedicated her work to helping people build strength from the inside out. And, while many people first think of physical fitness when they hear her name, what makes her work so powerful is her understanding that true wellness goes much deeper than the physical.

Lissa understands the connection between the body and the mind. She understands the impact of stress, overwhelm, trauma, pressure, and emotional exhaustion on a person, and she also understands how movement, discipline, routine, and self-worth can help people reconnect with themselves.

There is something incredibly grounding about the way she shows up for people.

Real. Encouraging. Strong. Compassionate.

And in a conversation centered around mental health, healing, resilience, and rebuilding yourself after difficult experiences, her voice brings such an important perspective.

Because healing is physical too. It’s learning how to feel safe in your own body again. It’s learning how to care for yourself again. It’s learning how to believe you’re worth showing up for again.

Lissa, thank you for lending your voice, your heart, and your perspective to this event. We are so grateful to have you as part of this conversation.

Join us on May 27! From 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Chief Financial Credit Union Event Room, 20 S. Main St., Rochester, MI.

Lunch will be served.🩷💜

INTRODUCING PAUL’S FULL SPEECH!! This is from the On The Wings of Angels Fundraising Gala on Saturday!

As I’ve continued to state over the last few months, it was wildly important to me and heavy on my heart that men had to take a stage at this year’s Fundraising Gala!

I especially knew our community needed to hear from Paul Dries on his perspective of what it was like being an integral part of my healing process.

I wanted our communities to hear from a man who lives with, and loves someone who had experienced the abuse and trauma that I had.

I gave him a general context of what I needed him to deliver, but he created his message and content on his own.

He literally delivered such a powerful statement on what it looks like to be a man who is able to truly Love, in every aspect of that word. And, he showed what it looks like to be a real man.

At the end of the day, the path that he specifically chose, a life to be with a domestic violence survivor, isn’t easy!

I hope you take a moment to listen to the beautiful words that those in the room on Saturday were able to hear from Paul’s heart.

Thank you, my love, for being such a integral part of my healing process, for loving me so well, and for being willing to take that stage on Saturday.

Thank you for delivering the words we all needed, with such passion, tenderness, heart, strength, bravery, and wisdom.

The world is better because you exist, and we are all better for having heard your words.

You are loved and you are cherished! Keep shining. I’m grateful to call you mine! 😘🥰🩷💜🫶🏽

$75,619 NET AFTER EXPENSES!! I’m blown away! What happened Saturday night at the On the Wings of Angels 3rd Annual Fundraising Gala was one of the most special nights ever.

That room was filled with palpable love, true humanity, and people choosing to care, on purpose.

You could feel it in the way people looked at each other, truly listened and stayed present. It was love, light, compassion, bravery, joy, strength, softness, tenderness, passion, all moving through one space together.

The world feels heavy right now. Every day there’s something else hard or heartbreaking. It’s easy to feel like things are unraveling. Especially as a woman, who wakes up every day to another domestic violence situation.

Then, Saturday, for a few hours, 300 people walked into a room and chose to give of their time, talents treasures, and, ultimately, their heart. You all chose to stand in the gap for survivors.

The work all year long is heavy. Carrying this mission the way we do, comes with a lot.

So, to stand in that room on Saturday night, and to feel 300 people pouring love, belief, and support back into this mission, did something wild to my heart and soul. It gave me such strength to keep going.

I also knew I took a risk this year by bringing men onto that stage in a very intentional way. Men who are willing to speak truth, challenge the narrative, and say things that might make people uncomfortable.

Yet, as a leader of this organization, I felt a heavy responsibility to give the messages that were given this year from that stage.

I knew some people might walk out or never come back. I also believed that we are ready as a community to look in the mirror, have the hard conversations, and do better.

And, what I witnessed in that room, and in the aftermath, was people leaning in. Every speaker, award winner, entertainer, they all showed up with courage, honesty, and heart.

And, you met them there, with openness, reflection, and a willingness to feel it.

In a world that can feel so broken, I saw people choosing love and each other. I am so deeply grateful for everyone of you. Thank you for showing up the way you did.

Get ready to be sick of my posts! 🩷💜🥰

We are so honored to recognize Lissa and Peak Physique and Fitness, as a sponsor of the On The Wings of Angels Fundraising Gala. Lissa’s work goes far beyond fitness.

Yes, she helps people build physical strength, but, what she really builds is confidence, resilience, discipline, and belief. She creates a space where people are reminded of what they are capable of. Where they reconnect with themselves. Where they rise.
