Parents, get excited—summer school is around the corner, and we are gearing up for the absolute best season yet! 🎉

Here is a sneak peek of the massive wave of fun, creativity, and learning heading your child’s way. What looks like mountains of boxes and endless bins is actually the ultimate launchpad for hands-on STEM experiments, incredible art masterpieces, and unforgettable summer school memories!

We are packing, prepping, and putting the final touches on everything needed to welcome over 2,000 K-12 students to SPEF’s summer program. This video is a small snapshot of the countless hours of passion, energy, and dedication being poured into making this summer safe, thrilling, and deeply enriching for your kids.

An operation this massive requires a logistics genius. A huge shoutout goes to SPEF’s phenomenal Program Coordinator, Brionne Cox! 🌟 Brionne is working tirelessly to oversee this entire operation, turning crates of supplies into a perfectly coordinated summer paradise for our students.

🌟 Another shout out goes to Board Member, Melody H. (aka, our South Pas Mom) who is the Chair for Summer School. Her background as a school teacher has provided great insight into the enrichment programs this community looks for to every summer.

We can’t wait to see your kids walk through our doors, ready to discover new passions and make lifelong friends. The countdown to learning and laughter is officially on—let’s make this summer legendary! 🙌☀️

Assemblyman Mike Fong quickly spotted two of our Board Members while they were volunteering at the Pasadena Senior Center. During his opening remarks, he gave SPEF a warm shout out, and commented he had an awesome time at Parti Gras! 🥳

Our Board is composed of parents from all five public schools. They are the do-ers and give-ers in our community, and we love when they’re recognized.

In the next few weeks, SPEF will welcome our new Board Members and send-off those rolling off the Board. Our community is so grateful for the work they have put in to make this town what it is!

Our MHS students and SPARC teamed up!

A Monterey Hills PTA Art Show in collaboration with South Pasadena Arts Council, Representation + Connection will be on view at the SPARC Centre Gallery!

SPARC is excited to showcase a student-centered art project that was developed during Yellow Ribbon Week at Monterey Hills Elementary. 🎉

Gallery Hours: May 27, 28, 30 from 4-7pm and a Milk & Cookies Reception on Sunday, May 31st from 2-5pm. Free and open to the public.

Parti Gras is the party that keeps on giving.

The Board was able to re-purpose a large portion of the flowers from the event. New arrangements were created from the floral decor left at the end of the night and delivered to community nonprofits the very next day. Special thanks to the Rotary’s Interact Club for their volunteer manpower.

Here are a few photos of the beneficiaries of Parti Gras’ amazing floral decor, which were enjoyed by among others the Ronald McDonald house, Journey House for foster youth, and CASA treatment center for women.

A special thanks to SPEF Board Member Ines K. for leading what she called a “punctuation mark at the end of an awesome event.” The recipients were truly touched, and it brightened up their day to be a little part of SPEF.

✨Parti Gras 2026: Over 900 South Pasadenans past and present, united under the twinkling stars on the rolling greens of the Arroyo Seco!

South Pasadena, your collective energy, the sparkling atmosphere, and the unfaltering support for our South Pasadena public schools were all seen and palpable, and coalesced into an absolutely unforgettable evening.

From the silent auction to the last dance, the night had that special kind of magic that happens when a community comes together for an irrefutable cause: educational excellence. 👏

To every guest, sponsor, donor, bidder, dancer, and cheerleader: thank you. 🙏

You brought the sparkle.

You brought the soul.

You were bold.

You were generous.

You are the impact, and we salute you! Thank you for making Palm Royale one for the books.
