Senior Citizens' Foundation of South Pasadena

The Foundation is volunteer-led and run, and 100% of our fundraising efforts benefit the South Pasadena Senior Center.

We provide critical funding for Center programs and items not covered by the City budget.

On Monday night, we celebrated our third annual Senior Champion Award night honoring Anita Scott and Glen Duncan. These two South Pasadena icons were celebrated by family, friends, and community members over champagne, wine, charcuterie, and desserts.

Than you to Senator Portantino, Supervisor Kathryn Barger, and Assemblymember Mike Fong for recognizing these individuals' outstanding contributions to South Pasadena.

The Senior Citizens’ Foundation of South Pasadena will host our second annual Senior Champion Awards honoring Ellen Daigle and Sally Kilby. Join us in celebrating South Pasadena seniors and recognizing these outstanding community members.

The event will be on Monday, August 14, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the South Pasadena Senior Center. Tickets are $26 and available at spsenior.org

When asked what she likes about going to the South Pasadena Senior Center, Saichiko explained "It's like a school kid likes playing with a friend."

She goes on to explain that she believes that when you're older, happiness is based on human relationships. Researchers believe this too.

According to research presented at a convention of the American Psychological Association, in addition to living a healthy lifestyle and managing health conditions, it’s important for seniors to remain socially active. Relationships with friends and family members play a big role in promoting quality of life.
