As students head back to school, remember to slow down, stay alert, and watch for children walking to bus stops, crossing streets, and getting on and off school buses.

🛑 Give them a BRAKE! Slow down in school zones and neighborhoods, and always stop for school buses when their red lights are activated.

A few extra seconds of patience can help make sure every child gets to school—and back home—safely.

OPENING DOORS TOGETHER. 💙 A key to an available unit can be the beginning of a whole new chapter for a Veteran. On September 10, Diakonia’s Veteran Services Team (SSVF) is bringing local housing partners together for an interactive Landlord Housing Forum focused on creating more of those opportunities across our community.

Meet Diakonia’s case managers and housing support staff, learn about landlord resources and incentives, talk available units and leasing processes, and find out how our team works alongside landlords to help create successful, stable tenancies.

Have a unit? Let’s talk. Have questions? Bring them. Want to help house a Veteran? We want to meet you. 💙

Would you like to learn to deer hunt under the watchful eye of an experienced mentor? Do you think a one-on-one mentoring/hunting experience may help you to build skills and confidence to take the next step in your hunting journey?

If so, the First Shot Mentored Hunt at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge/Dorchester County may be right for you. We will pair selected applicants with an experienced hunter that will help guide them through the process and culminate in a hunt.

Through a partnership between USFWS Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, Maryland State Chapter of National Wild Turkey Federation and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, we are able to provide new hunters with an effective program to get interested individuals afield.
