Today we got to be part of a special milestone! 🎉

A local vet tech is working on the final steps needed to earn his LVT, and we were more than happy to lend a helping paw... and a couple of fluffy volunteers! 🐰❤️

Bun Bun and Snowball got to help with a rabbit blood draw and subcutaneous fluids training today. While they may not have understood the educational importance of the visit, they definitely understood the extra cuddles, treats, and attention! 🥕🐇

This isn't the first time we've brought some of our exotic animals in to help veterinary students and technicians gain hands-on experience, and it certainly won't be the last. We believe the more experience future veterinary professionals can get working with a variety of exotic species, the better care our scaly, furry, and feathered friends will receive in the future.

A huge congratulations to this soon-to-be LVT! We're honored that Bun Bun and Snowball could play a small part in the journey. 🎓🐰

Who knew being adorable could also be educational? 😆

Bun Bun and Snowball soaking up all the attention—they definitely earned their spotlight today! 🐰💕

Sometimes all your training pays off… just not in the way you expected 😂

So one of my volunteers, Bailey, has been with me for YEARS—since she was in elementary school. Mom’s a teacher, so the other day before leaving for work she tells the boys:
“Do NOT call me unless the house is burning down.”

Welp… 🔥🐍 apparently we should’ve added “or if two snakes fall out of the ceiling mid-date.”

About 15 minutes later… phone = absolutely BLOWING UP.
Mom rushes home thinking the worst, only to find two very committed snakes who decided the unfinished basement was the perfect romantic getaway… and then proceeded to fall from the ceiling without missing a single moment of their… activities.

Nature really said: “The show must go on.” 😭

Mom immediately hits the “NOPE” button and calls in the professional…
Bailey.

And this kid—no hesitation—walks in, scoops them up like it’s just another Tuesday, and pops them into a tote like a seasoned pro.

Meanwhile… the boys…
Oh yeah… suddenly they’re posing in pictures like wildlife photographers, as if they weren’t running for their lives 30 minutes earlier 💀

Best part? Bailey asks if she can hold them before release.
Of course I said yes.

I’m seriously so proud of how far she’s come—knowledge, confidence, and zero fear while everyone else is losing their minds.

Moral of the story:
➡️ Always listen to your mom
➡️ Snakes don’t care about your house rules
➡️ And never underestimate the kid raised around reptiles 🐍💪

🚨🐍 Breaking News from the Drama Department 🐍🚨

So remember those 2 snakes we were told was 100% a girl… from a guy who definitely knew what he was talking about? 😅 and transported them together in same bag....

Yeah… about that.

Today we go in thinking it’s just a normal clean-and-put-her-back kind of day… and BOOM 💥
Surprise clutch of eggs.

Now we’re sitting here like…
👀 “Ma’am… would you like to explain yourself?”

So either:
A) Someone wasn’t actually a girl 🤔
B) There was a very secret meetup at some point 👀
C) We are now starring in Snake Jerry Springer: Who’s the Daddy?! 🐍🎤

We’ll be playing the waiting game for the next 50–60 days (and guessing these have been hiding for at least a week already)…

Stay tuned, because when these eggs pip, we might need a lie detector test and a backstage security team 🤣

And before all of you keyboard warriors start saying, you need perlite, we are on our way to lowe's right now.

**Rest in Peace, Blaze 🧡**

This is one of the hardest updates we ever have to make.

Blaze has passed away.

After everything he went through… after fighting so hard just to come back to us… his little body just couldn’t keep going.

When Blaze first came in, he wasn’t breathing. He was completely unresponsive. We did everything we could in that moment—mouth-to-mouth, tiny compressions, stimulation—and somehow… he came back. That alone showed us just how strong he was.

We rushed him to the vet. We kept him warm. We gave him everything we possibly could.

For a moment, we had hope.

But sometimes, the damage done before they reach us is just too much to overcome.

Blaze didn’t get the life he deserved… but in his final moments, he knew care. He knew warmth. He knew that someone was fighting for him with everything they had.

And that matters.

These are the ones that stay with us. The ones we wish we could have saved. The ones we replay over and over, wondering what more we could have done.

Run free now, Blaze… where your body is no longer tired, where the sun is always warm, and your belly is always full.

You were loved. You mattered. And you will never be forgotten. 🧡🦎

This morning we took Blaze to the vet. If you saw our previous post, you know he came to us not breathing and completely unresponsive. After mouth-to-mouth, tiny compressions, and stimulation, we were able to bring him back… something we are still in awe of.

Right now, we’re not sure what kind of road lies ahead for him.

The vet did a full exam and, thankfully, Blaze does **not** have a respiratory infection. He was also tested for tumors and other serious diseases that bearded dragons can develop, and those results came back negative. That was a huge moment of relief for us.

What we are facing now is just how incredibly weak he is. Blaze is severely emaciated… he has no fat reserves left, and his little body is just exhausted.

The vet is hopeful—believing this may be the result of improper care rather than something irreversible. So we’re holding onto that hope with everything we have.

For now, we will continue his two medications—one oral and one injection—and in a couple of days, we will begin very slow syringe feeding to try and help him regain strength.

We also want to say **thank you**… truly, from the bottom of our hearts. Because of your donations, **every bit of his vet care was covered**. That kind of support means more than words can ever express. You showed up for Blaze when he needed it most.

Right now, the best thing you can do is keep him in your thoughts. Send prayers, send positive energy, send anything you can his way. He’s fighting, and we’re going to fight right alongside him.

We’re so grateful for every single one of you ❤️

We need your help to get him to the vet. Had a beardie come in this evening who was left at his owners ex girlfriends house which she didn't sign up for. She did her best and realized something was wrong. She took him to the vet where they sais He already had an RI and when she was transporting her vet told her to use Styrofoam cooler to keep him warm when transporting with a bag of hot water because transporting him in a box with warm blanket wasnt enough. She changed his bulb and uvb but vet didnt gove meds, just said as most vets who "see reptiles " but dont specialize that he needs to go to UGA. HE was without adequate air and hugely overheated in transport here. If he makes it thru the night he needs meds for his RI and who k ows what else. I have attached pictures of him. He has labored breathing but praying he makes it to the vet. Yes i gave him mouth to mouth to get him breathing and we had to cool him down as he was as hot as a hot water bottle. Please if you can help u can send us donations OR call TVC West (770-424-5484) and put money on our account for Scaley Addictions

By no means is this her fault, she followed what a vet told her.

🚨 **CAPTURED… but not the way you think!** 🦎

We got a call from a homeowner saying a *bearded dragon had taken over his front yard*. Naturally, we had to check it out.

The landscapers told him this little guy had apparently been hanging out there for **a few weeks**… just living his best life in a bush about **4 feet off the ground**.

So I start looking low, figuring he’d be tucked away somewhere since it was getting later in the day…

…and then I happened to glance up.

And there he was.
Sitting right on top of the bush.
Just staring at me like,
**“Hey lady… what exactly are you looking for?”** 😆

I slowly reached over… and guess what?
No running. No panic.

Just *yoink* — and he was safely in hand.

The homeowner was relieved, and this little guy is now safe. 💚

---

Now here’s the part that isn’t funny…

This beardie didn’t end up there by accident.
**Someone released him.**

Bearded dragons are *not native* to our environment, and releasing them into the wild is essentially a **death sentence** — whether from predators, weather, or lack of proper food and care.

🙏 **Please, if you can no longer care for your reptile:**

* Reach out to local rescues
* Contact animal control
* Post in reptile groups or on Facebook

There are *so many people* willing to give these animals a loving home.

**They don’t deserve to be abandoned.**
